As promised I am willing to arrange another London 365 meeting. The date I propose is Saturday 7th December. All I know is that the Xmas tree will be in Trafalgar Square but not sure what else is happening.
If there is interest I will arrange a time and a meeting place nearer the date. Perhaps the more IT literate could spread the message to all and sundry to see who is interested.
Oh so tempting Padlock....if any one out there is dithering do go to the meet up , you will enjoy it so much ! We had a great time last Saturday & all really got on. A bit daunting meeting people for the first time but all in the same boat so take the plunge you won't regret it!!.
Just think of all those Christmas lights!!!
@padlock I know but I off to Dublin on the 13th December, I can't keep gadding about, different if was nearer but Lancashire is a long way from London!
@happypat well there will be another one so perhaps you can make that. If there is no interest in this one I will leave it until late March. Looked at the Manchester one but it is in half term so not good for me with family commitments.
@padlock Oh never fear I will be there the next time! I thought of going to the Manchester one but it depends what day it is the 12th could be Ok but not the 5th as I am going to Birmingham uni open day visiting. We do lead busy lives!!
Would not suggest meeting a Somerset House as they will have the Ice Rink there as presented no doubt by Madame Tussards PLC who from experience are photographer hostile unless you are photographing your child or a relative (even at 10pm when there are no little terrors on the ice)
By the blue cockerel in Trafalgar Sq might be a possibility.
@camera Hi Rosemary, If you could make it that would be brilliant. It would lend an international flavour to the meet. As ever there will be people who know London pretty well so you may see places/things you may not spot by yourself.
@pixiemac Thanks for the offer Sarah. I have contacted Judith Johnson who lives not far from me and I think we shall go together. Milton Keynes is about 20 odd miles from where I live but perhaps we can meet up at the London gig
@padlock Wotcha! Looking out my thermals now.....!! Can't believe we all met up just last week, seems ages ago :) @bizziebeeme Thanks for the shout-out! Phew!
@filsie65@annemary@boxplayer@simster@janpenny@pamknowler@dansavatar
Sounds good to me as ever all are welcome and it would be good to have more new faces to boost the numbers. There is no limit on the number who can come, what I think I can say from the last one is that we all have 365 in common and that makes a big ice breaker, then there is tech talk, then there is general chat, then a good photo opp is spotted then we need lunch!!!
@padlock Sounds fab... particularly if you factor in the cup-of-tea-stop this time as it'll most likely be freezing our little shutter-release-fingers-off.....!
(Plus morris men. moped convoys and fashionistas this time too? Thanks)
Dear All, If I have missed anyone, sorry but please feel fee to forward link and details on.
Next meet is on for the 7th December, meeting place is now Liverpool Street Station at 10.30pm. The proposed destination has changed as due to some able footwork by @steampowered and myself we felt that Shoreditch would make a great clicking venue. We will walk the streets where local well known characters roamed before us many years ago, Spitalfields market will be visited as will the street art of this area.
This date is open to all, to make identification easier a bright hat to be worn(guess who thought of that one). I have checked the web sites for that area and it doesn't say it will be closed, tea shops/coffee bars are many, Indian restaurants by the mile, shops are unique and my company as ever will be supplied free of charge!!!
Hope you can all make it and please pass this to anyone else you make know who would loves to come.
Suggest comfy shoes, to help with cobbles, warm jacket(due to the weather), bright hat(cause Paul said so), sense of humour, camera, batteries, memory cards and of course yourself.
Look forward to seeing you all and meeting new 365 people.
By ze Bye
Padlock
Woohoo! Count me in! This is a must for anyone who hasn't had the chance to meet the indomitable @padlock (or me for that matter). I really want to meet lots of other people, particularly @nicolaeastwood (I have heard all sorts of "interesting" things about you! :o)) and to reacquaint myself with others (Step forward @suesmith and @happysnapper65). It was a real eye opener when @padlock and I wandered around this area just the other day and there is just so much to photograph (and so many curry houses to choose from!). I am assuming that @padlock will be telling us all where to meet when he knows how many more folks will be coming but it isn't a big secret really. We managed to bump into each other at Liverpool Street Station outside McDonalds with no probs. Looking forward to seeing all of you lovely people (and partners if they want to come along - there must be Christmas shopping and eating that they can get up to if they don't know their aperture from their f-stop!
Just remember folks, wear a hat for recognition purposes. Preferably a bright coloured hat and even more preferable will be an outlandish and bright coloured hat. I know just the one I am going to be wearing...
@padlock@steampowered It's in the diary! Only problem is that I have a blood donor appointment at 9.30am so will be late (and probably woozy when I get there!). Clive, could you email me your mobile number to taz_o54 at yahoo.co.uk so that I can track you all down? (or do I just ask people if they've seen the hats?!)
@steampowered Oh no! I am so disappointed. When I read this I immediately thought a definite yes. Looked at my diary and realised I am in Gloucestershire on that date catching up with family. ;-( boo hoo.
Brightly coloured hat, now there's an interesting challenge - currently need a real life Photoshop for a touch in the midtones with curves and maybe a tad more saturation, Changing the Hue would not go amiss as well.
@padlock weird - I'm not getting it. Does taz_o54@yahoo.co.uk create a link?
Just answered my question - it doesn't! Oh dear - sorry about all this hassle
I really want to meet up with you all but not sure I can make it. I am having real problems with both feet at the moment - waiting for orthotics to be made for my shoes and hoping for a miracle!! I am not sure i could keep up with you for very long as the pain in my heals is quite bad.
Please keep me up to date with the plans for the day and if i can make it I will. It sounds like such a fun day and i will be really sad to miss it!!
@andycoleborn That would be great to see you there, as the patch we are looking at visiting seems to be well known by yourself. That is great to have local knowledge.
@crewnelson OOPs not sure if I put you on the list. If I didn't will repeat if I did so sorry. Meeting is fixed for 7th Dec, 10.30am outside McDonalds at Liverpool Street Station. To help us all recognise each other we are wearing hats, bright, beautiful and stupid are allowed!!! Intend to visit Shoreditch area which has Brick Lane(Curry), Street Art and much more.
Hope that is Ok and you can make it.
@steampowered Well that seems to have gone down really well, not sure yet of numbers but seems we will have a few!! Must be because you are such a babe magnet!!!!!!
@padlock Would love to come Padlock & wear my hat but have just checked prices for trains & going to cost over £80...must be the time of the year ! Going to Dublin the w/e after so I think I had better give it a miss this time. Thanks for asking! Will be available for the next one if it after the end of March as I am in NZ !!! That's putting you on the spot I know but any time next year pretty much!! Enjoy the day!!
It's in my diary and I'm looking forward to spending the day with Steed and Emma! Could be an interesting day ;). Love the idea of doing a bit more street photography. @steampowered@padlock
@suesmith It's going to be fun (I can promise you that...) I am looking forward to meeting so many more 365ers and also to seeing the brightly coloured / silly hats that turn up. Seeing as it is going to be December, I reckon there will be a plethora of hats anyway so nobody needs to feel like they are going to stick out in the crowd!
I will be on a plane jetting across to Ecuador so won't make it this time
;o(
keep me posted on new year's meets...I might be back and posting by then!!
Hi Mr Padlock - Although I'd love to attend another meetup, I'm already booked on another photo event that day (I've paid 75 quid for this one, so I'd better go!) Have a great day and let me know when the next meetup will be!
@padlock haha unless you are wandering around Brick Lane, I'm far from an expert on central London... I know a few areas well, the rest is usually educated guess work :-)
@mariadarby Hi Maria, No problem hope to see you. There is actually a bit of a story behind the hat. At the last meet we arranged to meet at Somerset House, near a statue in the front. I thought it would be easy to recognise people as they would be looking a bit lost but have a camera around their neck. Unfortunately it was the start of London fashion week and there were loads of lost looking people wandering around with camera around their neck!!!!! Hey Ho.
@padlock@suesmith I'm not going to be able to make the next meet up in December 2013. Such a shame, I would have love to have got there. If another one get's organised I'd love to go, if you can keep me in the loop, please. Thanks. Hope you guys all have fun, I'm sure you will.
reply @padlock)
Hi Ya. Jen and I will come an meet everyone. But we are both a bit dodgy with a lot of walking have a wonky knee or two. So we may not last the full walking distance. We want to say hi, meet peeps and take some pics of us as a group and my hubby is coming as chief bag carrier and photo taker of any group shots, but we don't want to hold people up so may just go for a bit, then venture off on the tube to a few different places or find a nice restaurant to reside in for a while. Hope that's ok.
Simmy
@simster Hi Simmy, No problem at all, do what you feel you both can. You are more than welcome. The idea at the moment is to go from Liverpool Street Station where we meet, via Spitalfields Market to Brick Lane-if you all like curry there are some wonderful Indian Restaurants on Brick Lane as well as pop up kitchens. Dont forget to wear a bright hat!!!!
@padlock@steampowered Sadly have to cancel 7 dec, would have so loved to meet you all but my husband has to work that day and would still have been ok as mother in law was due to be with us however, she has somehow managed to fall in a ditch and break her ankle so is unable to travel and look after the girls. Maybe third time lucky! Looking fwd to hearing about it and seeing pictures of the day! Have fun
@padlock@steampowered Can't tell you guys how sad I am... it's the day of the church bazaar and in an effort to improve community spirits and the relationship between school and church (we're a church school) the decision has been made to get the kids to go along and sing some carols - led by my choir club. It was just assumed that I would be there and I've even been provided with a stall to run :( Just can't not be there but believe me I'd much rather be with you all. Have a great day and post lots of shots... oh and please arrange another soon x (I'm putting my bright hat back on the peg...) sniff sniff
@steampowered@padlock
Hope so - in fact I'm counting on you guys to make it so brilliant that everyone will say 'let's meet back here same place same time tomorrow'...! I always help out at these village events and thought I could skip it this year. Alternative idea - you could reschedule the meet-up for Northill Village Hall......................? Guess not quite so many photo opportunities. Ah well, I'll look forward to next time.
Have a good one x :)
@steampowered. Is this ok. Saturday the 7th. Meet at 10.30am outside McDonald's at Liverpool street by the children statue. Pretty sure that should help oh and plus hat .
@steampowered Hi Paul, did have a figure of at least 12 but have really lost count now. Well I know at least you and I so will go from there. You never know we could both be surprised!!!!
@padlock@steampowered@simster@nicolaeastwood Hi All, sorry for the lack of commenting, I was in the U.S. when this meet-up was first suggested and then up in Stafford with sister who had her first baby in November so missed comments (good excuse?!). I have kept the 7th free, where abouts in Liverpool Street will you all be meeting and if I do not have a bright hat will you still talk to me?
By sheer coincidence I was in the Spitalfields/Brick Lane/Whitechapel area last Saturday and the street art is fantastic and also good architecture and interesting parks etc.
Look forward to seeing you all, any more details would be great. :-)
@emmadurnford Hi Emma, no probs. meeting place is outside MacDonalds, Liverpool street station at 10.30am. Don't worry about hat and hope we don't cover ground you har already done. However the street art does change so quickly. Hope this helps and look forward to seeing yoy
@emmadurnford@padlock. It looks like it is going to be fun! I have just come back from London today (three exhibitions and a lot of walking) but another day sounds great especially in great company! Also looking forward to the possibility of a curry in Brick Lane again!
@padlock hi all, sorry but jenster and I will not be able to make tomorrow. We are both poorly with bad colds. Really sorry guys we were so looking forward to it.
@padlock@steampowered@emmadurnford.... can't wait can't wait can't wait.......can you all talk to me about new cameras please!?! :0). Emma, have sent you a text about hooking up at Waterloo?!!! X
@padlock I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and I'm coming with a fellow 365er Judith Johnson and we are meeting on the train. It's through 365 that I've made friends and met up with her locally. It should be a great day and hopefully the weather will be kind to us!
@jenster hi had a cracking day and sorry you missed it. On my way home an don't doubt you will see loads of photos . Think at the peak we had 19 people so a result.

@roseolivia I want to meet the lady who every time I misspell "Rachel" my spellchecker suggest "Earache" as the only available alternative! :o)
@taz_o @simster I haven't had the pleasure but I'm going to change all that!
@jo13 Ah! The Fab Jo. You and I are going to have lots to talk about!
@padlock Well, we are old, grumpy compatriots already and I am definitely up for it!
