As there seem to be dozens of people from Blipfoto who are now opening accounts on 365 project, It would probably be useful if everyone added a comment below saying who you were on Blipfoto and who you are on 365 Project
This will make it easy for former Blip buddies to find each other on here.
It is a bit daunting to start from scratch on a new journal site, so having a few familiar faces around should make the transition a bit less traumatic.
What I will say is, it all seems a bit strange at first but having spent a couple of months on here, it is a great site and there is just as good a community here as there was on Blipfoto. So please persevere and give it a few weeks. 365 Project will also benefit from having some of the fabulous people from the Blip community join in.
Please point any other Blip buddies you find to this topic so they can join in. Spread the word. :)
**** Update ****
I must say, I'm amazed at just how many Blippers are signing up here. I'm also rather excited at being reunited with so many of my old Blip buddies. A huge welcome to you all. You have no idea how much I've missed you lot. :)
Hi, I'm Squirk on blipfoto with the journal Rodents Rule. I just found out about the rumours regarding blip today. I hope the site continues. 365 looks good, too, so maybe if blip sticks around, I'll do both!
I am LooseCanon on Blip and now LooseCanon here. My wife is Technophobe on both sites.
I have started on this site by tagging all my posts with 'Blip'. Perhaps other blippers would like to do the same so we can find each other 'in the dark'
One issue that is bothering us is this:
On Blipfoto everyone used the verb 'To Blip' when referring to posting. 'To 365' doesn't have the same appeal. What are we going to call it?
Hi. I am gennepher with the black cat avatar on blip, and I am the same name gennepher on 365. It appears 365 accepts transparencies which is why you see my proper black cat here...on blipfoto it was just green eyes and green butterfly!
I have started to backup all my Blips to Evernote just in case of a switch off! It is easy to do as most browsers and apps have a send to Evernote option. There again I only started blipping in Nov 14 so not as many as some of you guys.
Hi everyone! I'm Rose with my pups and still using LoveMy3Dogs as I did with blip. I'm so happy to see many familiar faces here. Thank you, Billy, for helping us along.
1bluebell on blip. jennyjustfeet on 365. have been here a couple of months now and I like it. doing both sites at the moment. had to change name for 365
I still am ellisroger on Blip. Before joining 365, I went through a thorough option appraisal to select a name here. Using matrices, a SWOT analysis, lots of flipchart paper and a focus group, I came-up with, sorry if this seems radical: "ellisroger."
I'm moving my bags on Thursday the 19th which is my birthday. I'll be 81 so I changed my name to Octogenarian. I used to have a journal "I believe in yesterday" and initials MPe on Blipfoto. (I no longer believe in yesterday.)
Thank you Billy for setting up this Help Desk. :)
I'm not from Blip but wanted to say welcome to everyone :) This is a great site and I hope you'll enjoy it too ^^
(BTW I know what it's like to lose your favourite website, it's a long story but I'm sorry :/)
Hi I am susnbmathews here and there. My journal name is wait just one more shot.
I am going to do both with different pictures. My thing is journaling so who knows. I hope blip stays and I am a bit teary eyed when I find my friends. I am also susan bean Mathews on Facebook. I am open for a while.
I hope and trust that Blipfoto is not going under, especially as I stumped up to be a Life Member, but everyone needs a backup plan and this seems to be the popular choice!
I don't seem able to format links correctly here, sorry
I'm berelaxed, just be on blip for nearly 5 years, no gaps, no backblips. Blip is a beloved place for me, but if it should falter I want/need another community around me and my photographs.
You may recognize our cat, Raspberry, she features in many blips and is a star hat model.
@newbank G'Day, Blipfoto is very similar to here. There is a few issues going on with Blipfoto and we are keen to continue our daily photo with you and join your community.
Hi I am still on blip but I just started on here as I think there is a lot of mystery on blip!
I remain passionate about beauty and nature and spirituality, as grace55.
I have not heard of Blipfoto but it seems you all have made some great friends there. Just wanted to say How-de-do and nice to meet you! I think you'll enjoy 365- it's a very supportive and creative community. So, welcome aboard!
Chris... Was(am) Pixelstate on Blipfoto and am Pixelstate on here... I am 10 photos shy of my first 365 on Blipfoto... when I reach that Goal I will likely shift over...
Hi Blippers. I am Hildasrose on Blipfoto and I've just managed to change my profile so that I am Hildasrose on here too. Looking forward to having two journals going alongside one another and making them different as I get used to doing things twice!
Hi (wiping away the tears)...maura143 on Blipfoto, same here. My Journal on Blip 'Gaia's Child' and we'll stick to that. Windows close, Doors open. Here's to a new Journey :)
BikerBear aka Anni ........ I hope this is a parallel journey not a completely new one ...... I still have fingers crossed for blipfoto but am thinking "belt and braces" ....... great to see old friends here too - thanks for this SB x
Madchickenwoman there - madchickenwoman 2 here!! To coin a song tune "two may become one" if blip ceases to be! But hopefully a new love will arise from the ashes of the old!!
OMG just realised it's a spice girls song! See what all this is doing to this indie girl?!!!!
Hi - Such a great idea to do this! I'm AH14 on blip and ah14sunlover here (with the intention of dropping the ah14 bit at some stage!) Same profile pic. My real name's Ann.
Hi there, great to see so many blippers here! :o)
I am DonnaWanna on blip and Donnatoo here. I havent posted here yet, still hoping blip survives but this does look like a welcoming site!
@olivetreeann
Thank you very much, we are all pretty much in a state of shock and denial. Some of us blippers have been with Blipfoto for many years. Some from the beginning 10 years ago. It's wonderful to be welcomed so warmly :)
Ninniex here and there :)
I haven't posted yet and still hope Blip stays strong!! It's awesome to see so many of us blippers here - "hedging our bets"!?!?
Hi everyone, I've just 'come on over' from blip world. I'll probably mirror my accounts for a while and see how things pan out. I'm Flying-leap on blip and the same here.
Great to see so many blippers here :)
I'm also staking a claim here although i haven't completely packed my bags on Blip. It's good to find myself in such fine and familiar company so thanks Billy for setting up this topic.
I do have to grit my teeth over the use of the greengrocer's apostrophe (fav's, etc.) on this site but don't want to start by making a complaint.
Only joined blipfoto earlier this year as mambo, will be Sheila Shields aka mambo here too. Have a foot in both camps at the moment! Just don't want Blipfoto to end.
Hi. I've been browsing, via Alf's links, for a while. I've now set up an account, and will enjoy browsing 365, but I will stay loyal to Blip so long as it is there for me. I've kept the same user name (norfolkdoc).
@ceridwen To be honest, when I parted company with Blip back in January, I tried several alternatives and this one is definitely the pick of the bunch. Not perfect but very good in many ways. Not least of which is the fact that it has the same great sense of community that Blip had. They took me to their hearts very quickly, so I'm sure they will do the same for you guys. :)
@dollykgray Happy blipday for yesterday. They don't have blipdays or balloons on here...... but it doesn't stop us continuing to celebrate them. They may catch on with the locals. :)
@sgtpepper I did email Ross at 365 Central to give him a heads up and warn him how many Blippers could potentially be arriving on here if Blipfoto goes tits up. He may be getting a quote on some new servers as we speak. :)
@sgtpepper I have just had a really nice email from Ross at 365 Central saying that they have loads of capacity on their servers and everyone is very welcome. So no panic..... There's lots of room in the refugee camp. :)
Hello everyone. I am hobbs at Blipfoto and my journal is named "Hobbs's Run". They wouldn't let me be "hobbs" over here it seems and so I have grown a little less formal. At 365project I am "hobbsie". :o)) Much as I like this site and as much as I am cheered by the appearance of you all, I have been at Blipfoto so long it'd be hard if I ever had to leave there for good. Time will tell I suppose.
@hobbsie It took me a couple of weeks to find my way around but once you get into the groove it is actually a very good site and has the same sense of community that Blipfoto had. We all just need to engage and make new friends on here.
Blipfoto's greatest asset is it's community and from the number of Blippers that seem to be arriving at the moment, that seems to be reforming here. It's just good to know that if things do go tits up at Blipfoto, we all have a safe harbour to moor up in. :)
Hi there I am danksound from blip. I have followed you all across here to keep up with the lovely people I met on blip. I am still there until the resolution. I have a short way to go to my four years and am hoping I make it!!! Nice to see and meet you all especially those of you I don't know from blip!!
Hanneke3, on Blip and Hanneke van der Werf here... I am 'copy Blipping' for now, i.e. exactly the same content as on Blip, but titled Copy Blip 1, 2 etc... I am hoping Blip will stay, so I can abandon this again, but at least we can all hang out here if it DOES go...
CraigD on Blipfoto and Craig3f2 on 365. Been running a parallel journal here for over a year now. Love both sites and hope to be on both for as long as I can be!
Hi everyone, along with many others I will mirror my blip entries as I don't want to lose touch with old friends. This site looks good and I look forward to meeting new friends and learning more about our wonderful hobby.
Hello, Billy!!! Nice to see you again!! I'm Naturelover on blip, but couldn't have that name here so it's NatureloverShelley here. I'm fine with that!
Don't know how I'll ever keep up with two journals when I couldn't keep up with one before!!!
Hi I am yasminyana on Blip and YanaA77ii on here, I'm hoping to upload all of my photos to keep to my original plan of capturing 365 images for one year.
From what I have been reading on Facebook from other Blippers, It looks official that Blip is in liquidation. I don't really understand why the Polaroid thing and how this happened. Glad we are all in this lifeboat together.
@john39 Hi John. I suspect that by the end of the week, most Blippers will be on here. I have spoken to 365 Central and they have assured me that they have lots of server capacity..... I think they may be needing it. :)
I'm still Madonskis- my journal name was Mad on photo taking too. I've been continuing with Blip but not every day since I hit the two years. I joined 365 but haven't done it regularly yet. Hoping to now. :-)
@bethannewho I have a bad feeling that the site will only continue until the next web hosting payment is due. Seeing all the spam hitting the forums is quite sad and I can confirm that they are not accepting new registrations on Blip. I know..... as I tried under a non de plume. It lets you sign up but no confirmation email is sent out to allow you to post or comment. :(
I think all of us should contact those we follow on Blip to suggest coming over here. MANY of my fellow Blippers i follow did not know about this. not everyone follows the forums or hears about these things elsewhere. So please hit your following list and start spreading the news to come over here and then check this forum for this post to find friends.
I'm Chantler63 on Blip and Henrysmum here but call me Kathy. I will continue with Blip for as long as it is running. At the moment I am largely backing up my Blip Journal on this site while we wait to hear about the future. I am keen to maintain the sense of the Blip community with all the good friends I have made and, I hope, more friends on this site too.
I'm JohnW on both Blip and 365. I shall be posting on both sites for the time being, and I have to explore this site properly yet.
So far my only gripe with 365 is there is NO Android App, only iPhone. That and my computer has yet to remember me so I have to sign in from scratch each time - must be missing something somewhere.
@swillinbillyflynn Here's an idea.... maybe 365 management could buy Blip for a Snip now it's in liquidation and merge the two sites for some economies of scale and hopefully a brighter future - keepin' the dream alive.
@runestone It might be an idea to raise with them. But I'm not sure they would want to take on all those people who paid for lifetime memberships and are still waiting for their yearbooks. :)
@delphwynd I have given Ross at 365 Central a heads up and warned him what may be coming his way. He assures me that he has lots of capacity on his servers and is happy to welcome the Blip community with open arms. :).
@swillinbillyflynn Do you know, I have never given the yearbook one moment's thought. I paid up to protect Blip's future, or so I hoped. The tangibles never came into it, for me. Nonetheless I feel swindled. That money was so hard to come by - I had no income of my own to call upon
@bethannewho
I really don't understand the concept of going through this whole process of taking over blip, only to take it into liquidation, if that is what's happening here. Maybe they weren't taking on enough new accounts to generate income to justify keeping it going? I hope it survives though.
@runestone I can sympathise. I paid for a lifetime membership and then they terminated my account two weeks before it even started because I dared to complain...... They then refused to give me a refund. I must say I was more than a little miffed. :)
Hello....a very sad Cider12 here and a just as sad Cider12 (Life Slips By) on blip...this whole thing is very upsetting. But so very glad to see so many friends here.
@swillinbillyflynn No convincing from me Arclight had to make up her own mind. I don't push anyone into anything, that is unless it is a certain person from another place into the cesspit...
@swillinbillyflynn
Missed you too Billy. You were one of my first blip friends and you've help me so much. Now perhaps you can help with this site. When new photos show up you don't know who's photo it is until you click on it. That makes no sense to me. Also is there a way to just look at the photos of those we are following. Thanks for any info you can provide. how do I find you?
I have just joined, thanks to my friends on blipfoto mentioning this site. Like many of you, I will be very sad if Blip disappears but wanted another option in case it does. I will continue to post there until I can't! I am creative lenna on blipfoto and creativelenna here.
I have uploaded my first entry just to see what it was liked. It seemed okay! A big hello to my friends already here and also to new friends i have not met yet. http://365project.org/creativelenna/365
Hi All, used to be MartnA - My life in a day.
Still am!
Going to run 365 and Blip in parallel to see how things pan out.
See what's what before I invest in membership...
Uploaded first photo today.
Feels like a comfortable site.
Canoneyes on Blip, CanonEyes here.
I really hope Blip doesn't go belly up. The more of this kind of site the better.
Hello everyone. What a sad day this is. But here I am. I was friedaquilter and still am here too. Just put up my first picture today but will also continue to blip (same picture) while it remains possible.
Hello everyone. My name is Bill and is/was known as Humbug on Blipfoto and now as Humbugs here on 365. I'm very sad about Blipfoto, but excited to start a new adventure here.
I am LoveroftheLight on Blipfoto, and, as you can see, have kept my name on here.
Joined today but back blipping slowly (back 365'ing?) I'm mirror posting for now, and keeping my fingers crossed that Blipfoto Ltd's liquidation doesn't mean the end for the site. (Presumably Polaroid are still going?!)
Hi I.m yardoverland on Blip and have used same name on 365 Project. I just hope it all works.
Pity Blip had to end in tears before bed time with no happy ending.
@cancarrier Good to have you on board. It's great to see so many old friends and familiar faces turning up here. There are one or two diehards who seem to want to go down with the sinking ship.
As long as we throw them a rubber ring when the time comes, they should be fine
Ellaphant there ... still Ellaphant here. Ears and tail still intact, poachers went for the ivory but I kinda kicked their shins. Big fat bum is still there, too, according to hubby.
I'm mirroring blip here, hoping for the best but not sure what that might be. Username CWA365, real name Steve, small fry really, but loved getting through my first year. Here's to the next.
blast on blip and blast on here! Not decided yet whether I'm going to carry on blipping (what is the right word?!) here, or just follow my blip buddies.
Hi there! Jettygirlx both on blip and here but I notice my 'real name' is now used instead of Mo's Picture Story. feeling really upset about making this move but don't know what else to do!
@swillinbillyflynn Not so much a diehard, I am still considering hanging on by my fingertips while stretching for the belt; just so sad to see what happened after the merger to a really special community. Hope this site can develop to become as good as blip; that might be of some comfort
Hi All. I am ArtistAnn here and was ArtistAnnie on Blip. I am still on Blip but feeling less hopeful since the liquidation notice. So sad to see Blip go.
I am a Lifetime member of Blipfoto, and will stay that way until Blipfoto no longer has a life. I am still very optimistic that, even with a liquidation, Blipfoto will emerge on the other side stronger than ever. But, since a number of my Blip buddies have moved on here (now 365buddies), I thought I would have some fun over here as well.
@swillinbillyflynn Welcome everyone to 365! I'm curious -- was googling Blipfoto to understand what has happened and can't find more than its description. I look forward to 'meeting' and following many new fellow photographers!
Ok, after finding out that blip still has staff that are happy to moderate (but no-one to answer any questions), I've jumped into the lifeboat too! So I've started 'projecting' (until I can think of a new word for blipping...)
@steveandkerry Of course you can back blip. I have considered posting the past 3 years worth of blips on here....... but didn't want to upset people by flooding their home pages. :)
@jettygirlx It is a pretty good community already. The site itself is not better or worse than blip just different. And the community is what we make it. We have had a lot of practice over on Blipfoto. :)
Hi everyone I was JackyMT on blipfoto and still am on here, I am just hedging my bets as they say and finding my way round this site. I am still on blipfoto though and will remain so until things are out in the open and we all know what they are doing.
@taffy Just to fill you in, Blipfoto seems to have been very badly run of late, and the ship is sinking, gone into liquidation, that's why so many have abandoned to the life rafts and headed over here.
@sgtpepper Ah, that makes sense. What luck for the 365 site to have so many experienced photographers joining the community! But I'm sure it must be frustrating to all of you who have invested so muc in that site.
@taffy It is qute depressing and sad in any ways. I left and came here in Jan. before all this started, and that was becuase I was angry and frustrated with the arrogant managment who would listen to no one, and tell us nothing. I decided I was better of out than staying and being angry, and that after four and a bit years of emotional and cognitive investment.
I've just completed my profile and noticed that my real name will be used rather than my user name which might make finding old friends from Blip difficult. Have to see if I can fix that.
I'm mollyblobs on Blipfoto and on here. Good to see so many old friends here. I shall carry on blipping till the bitter end and use this alongside as a safety net.
I'm Dee43 on blip and have just signed up here after hearing the news and have kept my username the same. I wanted to register as so many of my blip buddies have jumped ship already and I didn't want left behind :)
@sgtpepper That's so sad! I'm guessing everyone joining here will be relieved that there is a home with a good photography community. I'm excited to find new folks to follow. It says a lot that you have people from the other site that have been on it as long as 4 years! That would be a super-veteran on this site. A number of us now are in Year 3 and a few in Years 4 and 5, but I think our site must be younger. Is Blip set up as a one-year journal project? I've found those of us following the first year are more lay back about the taking/posting on the same day, but are still eager participants in giving feedback and regularly posting.
Have just started a journal here - MariaInWales on Blip, maria_in_wales here. Haven't blipped for a bit, as it happens, because of real-life priorities which are still needing my time, but given what seems to be happening over on Blip I shall try and find the time over the next few days to copy some of the blips I had there onto here. If I get quicker at doing that than I was for the first one,, I hope I might even find time to post some of the nearly-a-month's-worth of photos that are currently queued up on my camera and in my computer!
I am on Blipfoto and now here, to see what the blip is going on! Wow.... I am Journey Through Time on Blipfoto. I just completed 1500 Blips on Blipfoto. I feel like a traitor, for some reason...so I'll post both places and see what happens.
I've kept my profile picture/avatar from Blip and am now using my real name, Alan, as my project title and keeping JohnEdward for continuity. EDIT oh, I think I got that backwards and the project name is the default 365. Many names and faces here I recognize from a few years ago good to get re-acquainted.
Not sure but I think some people have been there as long as 10 years. I'v been there almost 3 years and was a lifetime member not that that means anything nowadays. I hope it survives. But I will now post here aswell.
@swillinbillyflynn You got a great response from your post. Cold you explain to us (me at least) what happened to Blip? Are they closing the project? Well, anyway as you have seen 365 is a very friendly place, hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. I started this week my 4th year :)
annis - and keeping a second journal here until I figure out what to do next. Curious to learn how this site works. Would be really hard to stop after 4,5 years of daily blipping. Or would it?
@swillinbillyflynn Thank you for making us feel so welcome here. I am still hoping that Blip may survive somehow - I have blipped for more than 4 years with no gaps - but if that is not an option, I am so pleased to have found this friendly and welcoming community.
Stupid question alert... can I backblip (sorry not sure what other word there is for that!) and start my journal from 1st January so that I'm doing my 365 from year to year or is that not possible?
@vivienv Hi. You just upload a photo in the normal way and change the date to whatever you want. If there is a date in in the exif data for the photo, it should default to that anyway. :)
@lee4nnesjournal Yes you can. It should default to the date in your exif data on the photo...... or you can set the date manually on the upload screen. :)
@thehazylandboys Good to see so many blippers here. I must say things are not looking good for Blipfoto at the moment, but this is a great place and as the whole blip community seems to have made their way here we all have somewhere to continue on our photographic adventures. I found moving here was a bit upsetting for the first few days but once I had settled in, it fired up my enthusiasm again. :)
@annis Hi. It seems that Blipfoto was running into financial trouble and a rescue was attempted by merging with Polaroid. This news was received with mixed feelings from the Blipfoto community. Then some major changes were made to the website. Unfortunately this was a bit of a Marmite moment on Blipfoto as some people loved it and others hated it. We have just heard that Blipfoto has gone into compulsory Liquidation. If that is the case, then there is sadly no hope of a rescue and the company will just be would up. It is all very sad for the staff and the Blipfoto community, some of whom have been on Blipfoto for over 10 years.
It is just as well that there is such a great site as 365 Project with such a really warm and friendly community already here to welcome the refugees. :)
@bess Glad you found it! Managed to upload here from the beginning of this month, but still pondering what to do about the last 2 years - don't want to lose them...
@swillinbillyflynn Blimey o'riley look what you started!
Welcome to all Blippers. I haven't been on 365 long but I echo the comments from @swillinbillyflynn and @sgtpepper about it being such a supportive community. Might have a look at Blipfoto myself, running in the opposite direction, if it hasn't imploded just yet. I hope you enjoy finding your way around the site and that the natives will prove friendly. There are lots of interesting themes and competitions too :)
@pistache Thank you for the kind words young lady. I think that @swillinbillyflynn is having a little lie down right now after all of his stirling work. When we both came across a couple of months ago we could not have foreseen the set of circumstances that has led to such an inundation of followers.
THis was posted on Blipfoto Friends on FB - I think it's a great idea;
Who remembers Blip together... Wouldn't it be kinda awesome if we all did a blip together kind of shot say... Tomorrow and let the Blipfoto team know... We stand together in what has been created... What we have all shared... Our support for the Blipfoto team... that we want it to be saved! It's a visual/photo site so let's make our feelings VISUAL! (sahfotoblip)
The day is tomorrow 18th March afternoon/early evening
Tthe tag is #blipfotoforever
I'm in :)
If you don't remember #bliptogether everyone stood like this so when the thumbnails came up we looked like we were linking arms.
Hi all, thanks to Swillin' Billy for doing this, a good idea! I used to be s90man on Blipfoto but took the opportunity to change my name (I don't even use my S90 anymore!). Not mirroring my blips on Blipfoto at the moment, I might if things improve, but right now I'm too frustrated with the mess they've made of the place!
'im indoors there, 'im indoors here.
I will be going down with the blip ship so there will be little activity from me on here until we're on the seabed.
Glad I found this blog. I was tonybrown on blipfoto, and am tony brown here - mainly because I've not worked out how to come up with anything different. Like most people I'm still uploading to blipfoto but not doing anything about transferring stuff from there to here ... yer
I'm still stellarossa - I'm amazed how many Blipfoto refugees are here, even if blip does keep going it will surely have lost a lot of blippers. (I'll be doing both though). I hope 365 will also offer the lovely printed books we could get on blip…..
@vivienv - I've been uploading 5-10 photos at a time and then just copying and pasting the text. It's not as time-consuming as it sounds because you can upload a bunch at a time, however if anyone knows a better way I'd love to hear it!
I have now got my Blip data backup application working. Hopefully today's news from Joe means it isn't needed but we all think that about backups until the day we do need them.
It is a Windows application only I'm afraid but works fine on a Mac under Parallels or Bootcamp.
It downloads your entire journal into an XML file and also thumbnails and full size images into separate directories.
The data it includes is all your descriptive text when you posted as well as tags, metadata, favourites and stars.
It would also be possible to include comments from other users but I'm a bit concerned about load on the server. I will experiment with that in due course.
It takes about 1 minute to download each month on my Windows 7 Parallels installation on a Mac..
The application is not completely finished. When you have downloaded the data it doesn't allow you to look at it in a friendly interface but the important bit is downloading the data and just in case Joe's optimism is unfounded I am releasing it now so we don't miss the boat if the server plug is pulled.
The application is called BackBlip and I am releasing it free of charge to anyone who wants to try it. Of course the usual caveats about using it at your own risk apply but there isn't really anything that can go wrong except it not working.
Unlike some of the other solutions I have seen in the past few days, this is dead easy to use and requires no complex installation.
As I said, for now its just a downloader but over the next few days I expect to have a data browser available so you can view your downloaded journal. (I may even make the images show against dark backgrounds!)
If anyone wants to try it please send me an email at loosecanon@gp-it.co.uk
Please tell other users about it too.
Wow ! taken me so long to go through so many Blippers
wonderful to read you all
I joined on the 16th march just in case still blipping
now my task is worse even more time spent blip/365 lol please join and follow feel safe knowing you are mostly here xx
Greeting, all new "Blip"ers! The natives are friendly here on 365. :) I have seen some of your work and it is terrific. Very exciting to have new creative talent among us, although sorry about what is happening to your beloved site. Welcome!
I have kept my same name of gen2
This is only for insurance purposes just now.but if the other site closes, I'll add some back-posts (or whatever they call them here).
Hoping Blip survives but will be here if the unthinkable happens. I'm Siany @smallwonder on blip and here.
Relieved my friends are seeking sanctuary here too.
i have to say that there are a lot of refugees here. i'm sure many will stay no matter what happens. but i know a good number of folks are blippers at heart and blipfoto is in their blood...and if the ship is righted and we can continue that we would stay the course with them.
this seems like a nice, friendly place. i opened an account here at the end of 2010, mere days before i found blipfoto. Blipfoto is where I landed and have been now for over 1530 days. it is where I prefer to stay. Like many others here, I have (re) opened an account to hedge my bets.
With the previous posters comment that polaroid is the preferred bidder, that may change the 'stay at blipfoto until the end' equation, since there seemed to be a distain for them from the outset. For them to come in and potentially make oodles of changes would make my skin crawl. We've given them more than we've wanted to already. I think Joe acquiesced a lot to get the partnership.
point is, i think a lot of journals may be mirrored here for a while to see what happens at blip, then there will be a peel off. it will split our community. some friends will stay here some will stay on blip. in any event, things will never be the same.
some of you are here now but will not be here a month from now. you will be making hard choices. prioritizing who you want to keep in touch with through your journals and whom not so much. it will not so much be a site decision but a friend decision.
Change is always difficult in business and even though the original merger could have been handled better the outcome just before the liquidation wasn't all that bad. It's nice to be an idealist but the fact remains the business model has to be financially viable to succeed.
We live in interesting times.
Texmama here...Texmama on blip too. Im looking forward to posting some extra here when I have more than one, and just mirroring my blip otherwise...not sure how well I'll keep up with commenting but I shall try....and there's a jumping spider on my desk so Im off...........
Hello Gang. I have signed up and have my same name of Kangaroo (I thought but i have to check that has logged). No photos to upload today and establishing as well where i can be found in case we get shut down at Blipfoto. It is very sad. I am on a library computer as well so have to chase around a bit while i am in the city for business. Some of you already know me, that I live in rural South Australia. Here's hoping we all can prosper. Thanks Swillin' Billy for providing a place of focus for us to meet. Best wishes. Christina Binning Wilson.
Dropping back in here to thank all of the 365ers who have visited to welcome all of the refugees from that other place, and to welcome all of the refugees here myself. You will find that the natives are indeed very friendly, and that the standard of imagery is equally as high.
@swillinbillyflynn I fully understand how you feel Billy but the fact is to stay viable you have to follow the money as distasteful as it may be initially. The market will decide if they made the right decision and it may well be that your smart move to help blippers find this site will have an effect on the outcome. We are both fortunate to live in relatively free societies.
@davidstebbing I hear where you are coming from, but they didn't have to treat people the way that BC has over the last few months. We were ignored, dismissed out of hand, any dissent was quickly squashed, images that made a point were pulled from the popular page, people were banned for speaking out. Sorry that was a whole lot more than "distasteful" that was being treatd like shite. At the end of the day the BC staff are all out of work, and I feel sorry for every one of them, do I feel sorry for those who created the situation? not on your life I don't!
I was asm929 on Blip - only a member for a little over a year, but it has become a part of my every day. I was happy to find this site existed, interested to see how it goes.
@vivienv - not directly, I open blip in one window and 365 in another, I upload photos straight from my computer as I have most saved there (for those I don't have on my computer I have to download from blip to the computer and then upload to 365). Then I just copy and paste the text. I don't have a huge number of entries on blip so i should get through it all in a week or so I think. If you have lots of entries this will probably be too time consuming.
I WAS kanyl - Blipping "Brian's Bits"
WTF I am HERE I've yet to work out - - More later
"As there seem to be dozens of people from Blipfoto who are now opening accounts on 365 project,"
"Dozens" looks more like 100s & I seem to have discovered I'm "brainnake" here, though I'd rather CAPITALISE the initial.
;¬))
I am Arkensiel on Blip and my name remains the same on here. as does my profile picture. I have only been here two days and will continue to Blip as well as post on here.
Hi it looks as of this morning that Blipfoto has ceased to be! I was Biggs, just don't take the pic on there and I believe Biggs on here. Hope that everyone who knew me on blip can find me on here
@swillinbillyflynn - you do know that Blip is still functioning, right? And that there is a big push on to get everyone to pledge to a crowdfunded new community ownership scheme currently called Blipfuture? Go read the blogs from BlipCentral and catch up if you haven't. It'll work if we all support it!
@kimbinva I was banned from the site, for daring to predict what actually happened to the site......So it is of little relevance to me unless the new owners decide to re-instate me. :)
So, hello fellow-Blip-refugees! I was and still am PicturePoems on Blipfoto, but today, 12th Night, is Day 1 of my joining 365Project. I still have high hopes of Blip's surviving, and retain my allegiance to the site, BUT I'm also keeping my options open and having a daily presence here, all being well.
You, too! Yours was the first name I recognised as I scrolled down the conversation. Good to find many more familiar names, too. I think I can manage a foot in both camps without doing the splits! :-)
Hi fellow-Blip types! I left blip a year ago and have only found out what happened- very strange. I am MPH819999 on Blip, I think this site will re-kindle my enthusiasm for my 'quests'. I wish Blip well and hope the Blipfuture folk succeed.
Still on Blip but on here too now! mpp26 or photo-a-day retirement on Blip. Have been on Blip over 5 years, nearly 6, so starting again on 365 is quite the challenge, but all good.

Welcome all fellow blippers, strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride. The natives are friendly so you will have no problems there
on blip (still while it lasts)
xxx
I have started on this site by tagging all my posts with 'Blip'. Perhaps other blippers would like to do the same so we can find each other 'in the dark'
One issue that is bothering us is this:
On Blipfoto everyone used the verb 'To Blip' when referring to posting.
'To 365' doesn't have the same appeal. What are we going to call it?
I don't see this as pessimism. Just as trying to keep the good things good.
janep70 from Blip here. Not posted a photo here yet... just signed up and looking for my friends!
I've kept my name the same on here! I have followed some of you already xx
JanetH on blip now Janethphotos on here.
Go into 'You', choose 'Settings' and it looks like you can do it there;-)
I have started to backup all my Blips to Evernote just in case of a switch off! It is easy to do as most browsers and apps have a send to Evernote option. There again I only started blipping in Nov 14 so not as many as some of you guys.
Going to continue with both sites until we get some answers hopefully.
Lovely to see you all :-)
Let's hope we can be in both!
Thank you Billy for setting up this Help Desk. :)
(BTW I know what it's like to lose your favourite website, it's a long story but I'm sorry :/)
I am going to do both with different pictures. My thing is journaling so who knows. I hope blip stays and I am a bit teary eyed when I find my friends. I am also susan bean Mathews on Facebook. I am open for a while.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Blip keeps going but hedging my bets by having a mirror here
www.polaroidblipfoto.com/plumbum
In the Real Life I go by the name of Beth Loft.
bethloft.co.uk/
or the thinly disguised woolgatherer
www.woolgathering.org.uk
I hope and trust that Blipfoto is not going under, especially as I stumped up to be a Life Member, but everyone needs a backup plan and this seems to be the popular choice!
I don't seem able to format links correctly here, sorry
You may recognize our cat, Raspberry, she features in many blips and is a star hat model.
Nice to see so many of us here !
I will be running dual starting today....
I remain passionate about beauty and nature and spirituality, as grace55.
Glad to see so many friends here. :-))
xXx
misswinterfinch in both places. living in Central NY State.
SusannaV here and now also in Blipfoto. :)nice to see you here!
Chris... Was(am) Pixelstate on Blipfoto and am Pixelstate on here... I am 10 photos shy of my first 365 on Blipfoto... when I reach that Goal I will likely shift over...
Quick question.....How do you add a profile picture....?? ❤️
At the top.......You/Settings/Picture......it took me a while to find it;-)
OMG just realised it's a spice girls song! See what all this is doing to this indie girl?!!!!
I am DonnaWanna on blip and Donnatoo here. I havent posted here yet, still hoping blip survives but this does look like a welcoming site!
Thank you very much, we are all pretty much in a state of shock and denial. Some of us blippers have been with Blipfoto for many years. Some from the beginning 10 years ago. It's wonderful to be welcomed so warmly :)
and I'll wager that this is only the beginning of the exodus.
Hi Peter! And the adventure does continue.:)
Thank you so much for that warm welcome. Someday I'd like to hear that 'story'.
Tagging with 'Blip' is a good idea, I think. At least for a while.
I haven't posted yet and still hope Blip stays strong!! It's awesome to see so many of us blippers here - "hedging our bets"!?!?
Wow, there are a ton of you on here already. Good to know. Now I have to learn my way aroung this site.
Great to see so many blippers here :)
I do have to grit my teeth over the use of the greengrocer's apostrophe (fav's, etc.) on this site but don't want to start by making a complaint.
My journal is Just the Withers on blip.
I hope to meet all my new and old blip friends here!
Yvonnekgray/Dollykgray on Blip.
You really are as daft as meself young man.
Regards to all
Feather in this world and the other!
Blipfoto's greatest asset is it's community and from the number of Blippers that seem to be arriving at the moment, that seems to be reforming here. It's just good to know that if things do go tits up at Blipfoto, we all have a safe harbour to moor up in. :)
This site looks good.
I'm the same name on Blipfoto, Flickr, Twitter etc...
But link not working for some reason. Not easy, is it.
Don't know how I'll ever keep up with two journals when I couldn't keep up with one before!!!
LadyMarchmont here too.
Good idea, Billy to have this link. Thanks!
seizetheday on Blip, rhubarbtart here (someone else is seizetheday on 365!)
It's not looking good.
Companies House
Delphwynd / Delph Wynd Daily
Happy 365ing,
Brian
I'm JohnW on both Blip and 365. I shall be posting on both sites for the time being, and I have to explore this site properly yet.
So far my only gripe with 365 is there is NO Android App, only iPhone. That and my computer has yet to remember me so I have to sign in from scratch each time - must be missing something somewhere.
I really don't understand the concept of going through this whole process of taking over blip, only to take it into liquidation, if that is what's happening here. Maybe they weren't taking on enough new accounts to generate income to justify keeping it going? I hope it survives though.
Merger is a great idea.
Some bampot already stole my name (and every variation thereof) so I'm stuck with this!
I have uploaded my first entry just to see what it was liked. It seemed okay! A big hello to my friends already here and also to new friends i have not met yet.
http://365project.org/creativelenna/365
Still am!
Going to run 365 and Blip in parallel to see how things pan out.
See what's what before I invest in membership...
Feels like a comfortable site.
Canoneyes on Blip, CanonEyes here.
I really hope Blip doesn't go belly up. The more of this kind of site the better.
Will probably operate both sites for a while, maybe..
Hi I'm xtoffdav on Blipfoto. Keep in touch fellow blippers
Good to see you all here, though. :-)
Pity Blip had to end in tears before bed time with no happy ending.
I am EmmyHazyland on Blipfoto - The Hazyland Boys
Here I am
Emmy Simonsen
@thehazylandboys
I do hope Blipfoto continues, but otherwise it is good to see you all here.
I'm Lesley on blip and the imaginatively titled LesleyT on here.
Almost the whole gang seems to be here!
As long as we throw them a rubber ring when the time comes, they should be fine
But I am still sad to see the ship sinking. :(
Still hoping that Blip can continue in some way (?!?) - call me optimistic...
But setting up on here just in case...
I was too tiny to notice. Can you backblip on this site?
blipping(what is the right word?!) here, or just follow my blip buddies.I am JJ46 here as well as Blip... signed up here in case the worst happens over there.
Really really disappointing they have not put out a message to the users
Lets stay together guys
I am a Lifetime member of Blipfoto, and will stay that way until Blipfoto no longer has a life. I am still very optimistic that, even with a liquidation, Blipfoto will emerge on the other side stronger than ever. But, since a number of my Blip buddies have moved on here (now 365buddies), I thought I would have some fun over here as well.
Tony G logging in aka CrocusMan. Just here for insurance, hoping Earthdreamer is right to suggest that Blip will survive.
Kind of sad and glad the B thing is over. I had totally lost enthusiasm anyway and don't think I would have persevered much longer.
I have never thought of myself as a refugee before !
Just signed up today with the same username; Daver64
(My name is Paul - Daver (rhyming with Saver) is a nickname based on my surname. I'll answer happily to either)
Still rather hoping that some amazing rescue occurs but taking out insurance just in case
billygoat here and on blip.
I was ifonography on Blip and I'll be the sand on here.
Good karma to you Billy, you done good.
BlackTulip as on Blip. Sticking with it for now and trying to round up the strays.
Maybe we should still "blip", it just feels right.
I probably won't post here unless blip really does collapse and stop working, or I might duplicate my blip posts here - haven't decided yet.
Heartening to see that so many will continue to carry the blip community torch if the unthinkable happens.
Right now, I'm double posting (both here and on Blip), but if the Blip ship sinks, I'll be here!
Thinking about joining from Blipfoto. Hillyblips on blip. Will see what happens and hedging my bets so to speak.
I'm craftynini from blip.
Do so hope blip continues, but don't want to lose my friends, so will do this also until I see what happens.
Computer problem sorted but there is no app on the horizon.
My blip page was Guinea Pig Zero, my sig gpzero.
Let's get on with it :)
Not sure but I think some people have been there as long as 10 years. I'v been there almost 3 years and was a lifetime member not that that means anything nowadays. I hope it survives. But I will now post here aswell.
Just go back to profile setting and change it. I did the same thing.
There are also many who will not be able to complete a 365 on Blip . . . . and so it goes.
Hi @rhubarbtart
I'm the old cynic, aka Superhero.
From the other side hello all
I'm Vivien here and Vivienv on Blip
It is just as well that there is such a great site as 365 Project with such a really warm and friendly community already here to welcome the refugees. :)
seizetheday on Blip, but rhubarbtart here
Welcome to all Blippers.
I'm trying to keep track of where I left off on the thread so that I can scan all the posts. I'm hoping I don't miss anyone.
Great idea. Now I just have to remember to do it.
www.polaroidblipfoto.com/entry/2024545103963492314
I will be going down with the blip ship so there will be little activity from me on here until we're on the seabed.
Sorry - I get confused easily.
Please tell other users about it too.
wonderful to read you all
I joined on the 16th march just in case still blipping
now my task is worse even more time spent blip/365 lol please join and follow feel safe knowing you are mostly here xx
This is only for insurance purposes just now.but if the other site closes, I'll add some back-posts (or whatever they call them here).
