I have received a travel journal from a young boy in Canada. He has created this journal for a school project, the idea is for the journal to travel the world and in April to return to him with stories and greetings from far away places.
I currently have the journal here in Denmark and I'm looking for someone to send it to - anybody who wants to play? :) All you'll need to do is write a little about yourself and where you are from and add a photo or two and then send it on to someone else .
i'd be happy to, but i'm in Canada and probably it should spend more time in Europe before heading back across the ocean. What a very cool school project!
What a great idea for the young man - the 365 community could really help him create a fantastic project for school. Be glad to help here in Arkansas, USA
Thank you guys so much for volunteering to help :) It is really kind of you! I'm thinking that maybe I'll let this post sit for a day or two and we'll see if someone from a fun and exotic place wants to take part too :) :D Then I could send the journal to them and they could then send it on to you guys in North America :) Thanks again :)
i am in canada (toronto) as well and i'd like to play! but i agree that it should travel around europe more before coming back here. if the boy lives in toronto i can even arrange to have it delivered back to him and take his photo!
@dibzgreasley Debs I too am a tad concerned re the postal service but I know someone who regularly posts parcels to Denmark and receives parcels back from there and other places around the world.
You guys are the best! I knew I could count on the fantastic 365 community :D :) And I think it'll be fun for all of us too, to follow the journal as it travels from person to person within the community :)
I was thinking we could let it do a round in Europe first and then it could travel to South Africa to visit Sally and Debs before it makes its way to the USA from where it could then return to Canada and eventually reach the young boy Jerome in Quebec :) @mona65 - Mona will you be the first? If you give me your address I'll mail it to you tomorrow :) If you are not comfortable writing your address here in the open you can email it to me at: Laerke_thorndal@hotmail.com.
When you've filled it in you choose who you send it on to - maybe Vera in Germany or Filip in Czech Republic? :)
@tori_shaw@rfilip - How great that you want to join Tori :) Sorry I missed you earlier. Filip maybe you can send the journal to Tori once you get it :) I've put up a photo of the journal here: http://365project.org/lily/365
I would love to help out too! I'm on the eastern side of Pennsylvania- who do I send my address to? There is even a possibility that I might be able to hand deliver it if I'm the last one to have it.
@annied - uhh Australia! That'd be cool :) Then once it has done a round around Europe it could go to Australia, but of course that'll be up to Tori @tori_shaw or whoever is the last person in Europe :D Or should it go to South Africa first? I'll leave that decision up to the "last European" :) :) :)
Thank you guys so much for wanting to "play" - this is turning into a really fun project!
@radiogirl@olivetreeann - how lovely that you guys want to help out too! I'm thinking that once the journal has toured Europe, Australia and South Africa we can plot out a good route for it around the US and Canada. So if you just keep your post here then someone will tag you when the time comes. The journal must be returned to Jerome's school by April 15th so that is the end date :)
How wonderful that so many people want to join! Last I heard from the journal was that Mona in Switzerland had sent it to Vera in Germany on dec 22nd :) So the journal is traveling!:D
I would love to join in too. I live in Montreal Quebec. And as suggested by Vikki Summerfield I would be happy to deliver the journal to Jerome and take some photos. Let me know if this is feasible and which school Jerome attends. What a great project.
@dora - what a lovely offer Dora :) It would be REALLY fun with some photos of the finished journal and Jerome with the journal! I don't remember the name of the school - but it is listed in the journal, so maybe Vera who has the journal now can let us know - or Filip can write it once he gets it :)
@lily So I have read trough this thread and put together travel journal travel plan :) @tori_shaw After you the journal have to make big jump to South Afrika to @salza and @dibzgreasley after them its Australia - @deborah63 and @annied after it is @maggiemae in New Zealand.
thank you for the organization! @taffy and @summerfield my e mail is ALSWL20@aol.com if you would like to contact me by e mail and I can give you my address and get yours to forward the journal!
@dibzgreasley I think you can sent it to @deborah63 in Perth, Australia, who will sent to @annied in Sydney, Australia who will sent to @maggiemae in Oamaru,New Zealand.
It was fun visiting all you who want to participate and putting together travel map :)
@rfilip Excellent job Filip!! @summerfield if it times out right, do you want to pass it off by hand? (o: @frankhymus we could also meet half way somewhere to send the journal along. Let me know if you'd like to do that.
@olivetreeann - it depends. i will be going to manila on jan 26 and my return date is feb 26. i will have @moniquenadeau stand in for me. if it gets here after i"ve come back, certainly we should have a meet up!
@frankhymus hi Frank it looks like you will be sending me the journal, here is my email islandgirl630@hotmail.com so I can send you my mailing address. Looking forward to hearing from you.
@annika82 The journal is currently on way out of Germany to me in Czech Republic. As your city Hameln is in north part of Germany, you'll receive journal from @huvesaker in Sweden (email: n_icola5@live.se) and you'll send it to @tori_shaw in UK (email: vickieshaw2003@hotmail.com )
@huvesaker hello, I will be receiving it from you - let me know when you are done and then just send me a mail putzer@gmail.com so I can get you my address :)
@rfilip@huvesaker@tori_shaw I am a bit confused now though .... Filip stated up there that I am getting it from you and I am sending it to the UK then ... maybe he can bring some light into this?
@annika82@huvesaker I could be more clear about this change in my last post (three posts up) where I announced it.
Annika is right it will go from Boo to Annika then from Annika to Tori.
When Annika wanted to join the journal chain. I looked in my plan of journal movements to see where I should put her. Since the journal has already left Germany (in fact currently its in Prague mail sorting centre right now) I had two options to put Annika between me and @psychotoxicc or between Boo and @tory_shaw and from position of Annika city Hameln, the second option is better because its shorter.
@bill_fe I have no clue where it is! But it looks like it will be coming to me from Vikki or Monique depending on when it arrives in Toronto. That's all I can figure out so far. I am then to send it (or bring it) to Frank. Fun, fun, fun!
I was wondering what had happened to the journal. It has to get back to Jerome by 15th April so I would suggest that it gets sent back to Canada as soon as possible! (26th February)
I don't have good news, Czech Post has managed to lost Jerome journal :( :(
I got journal from Vera on 11.1
I sent journal to Lina on 20.1
On weekend of 23-24.1 I started worrying what is with it as according to track and trace it was stuck at post.
25.1 I visited post office to see if they have more info - but they didn't. They said that they will search for it.
29.1 I visited post office again -Package still missing. I filled letter of complaint
Czech post has responded as late as law permits - after 30 days - yesterday 28.2. Result: Package got lost. I got postage fees back.
Every time I had been at post office staff has arrogant and annoyed and they were convincing me to set up accounts, life insurances.... at some allied bank... horrible customer experience but that's how it works here with government operated companies.
I'm so sorry to hear that Filip! Wow- let's see. I'm not sure what I remember the original assignment other than Jerome was learning about different places and getting pictures of them? Maybe we could each do our own write-up and send it directly to him along with the story about how the original journal was lost by the post office and this was how we compensated for it so his assignment was done on time. He could then take our pages and put them in a notebook as his new journal? Maybe the others will come up with something as well.
I think Ann's @olivetreeann idea is a great way to handle this. Jerome will have something to present, even though it is not the original project!
@rfilip thanks for the update Filip. So sorry to hear that the journal has been lost. I think Ann has hit upon a great idea that we all send individual pages directly to Jerome in Canada. Do you have his address? If so perhaps you could post it here so we can get things going as soon as possible.
I've just written to my friend who is related to Jerome and asked for their e-mail adress, I'll write her again and ask for their postal adress 😊 Thanks everyone for being game :D
@lily hi Laerke as I was the last one that was to receive this journal, I would be willing to have all past participants send their journals to me and I would put the journal together for Jerome and deliver it to him. Let me know. Dora
Okay guys - thanks so much for being patient! My friend has written to me and she asked that we each send our journal entry and photos to Jerome's dad.
She wrote:
I 've got a reply from my cousin. We will sent it to him directly and he will try to rebuild the journal from everybody's part of the journal.
If we can ask each person to tell him who sent them the journal so he can put them in the correct order, that would be great.
My cousin wants to say thank you to everyone who will send their story again.
@lily I will send an email.
Laerke, you mention that we should say who we received the journal from so that Jerome can place them in order. Would it be easy for you to send him the list that Filip worked out and then Jerome can use that as a guideline?
@salza@taffy Thanks for the suggestion, Sally and Taffy. I'm no longer in the order I was in when I first joined. I live in Toronto now. I'll work with Vikki for our part. @summerfield
@lily I was just thinking of this today so I'm glad to see we've made some headway. I will get on my part tomorrow as I'll be out and about with my camera in tow. Thanks for the update and info!
@taffy a pdf sounds good :) The write-up should be a bit about yourself, your everyday life and where you live (regional and/or national). And photos to support that :) Filip has already uploaded the list about the order, if you scroll up a bit on this page there are two photos of the maps with the list. Thanks again everyone :) And have fun :)
I sent my email version last week, and a hard copy on Tuesday, so he should have it by the end of the week at the latest. It was lots of fun to do and I hope he gets a good grade!
I was thinking we could let it do a round in Europe first and then it could travel to South Africa to visit Sally and Debs before it makes its way to the USA from where it could then return to Canada and eventually reach the young boy Jerome in Quebec :)

@deborah63 - that is so cool that you want to join Debbie, thank you! :)
@lily @huvesaker That's great, you can get in touch with @psychotoxicc from Lithuania, she is next step after me. After you is @tori_shaw from UK
@tori_shaw you are to get the journal after me..my email is n_icola5@live.se
@tori_shaw After you the journal have to make big jump to South Afrika to @salza and @dibzgreasley after them its Australia - @deborah63 and @annied after it is @maggiemae in New Zealand.
And then it hits US and Canada:
@hjordis in Colorado then @genealogygenie in Kansas then @emrob in Texas then @milaniet in Arkansas then @bill_fe in Madison then @taffy in Chicago then @jackies365 in Michigan then @summerfield in Toronto then @olivetreeann in East Pennsylvania then @frankhymus in New York then @radiogirl in Northen Ontaro and last one is @dora in Montreal who has offered to hand delivered it to Jerome.
Jerome will be very surprised when he will get the journal back :)
@rfilip Filip thanks for arranging where the journal will go to.
@deborah63 and @annied Please let me know who wants it first and drop me an email address.
@rfilip Thank you for taking the time to organise!
It was fun visiting all you who want to participate and putting together travel map :)
It is fun! Not only is Jerome learning but we are too! Fabulous idea.
My email address is

I hope that I cleared any confusion :)
What is the status of this as of today (04, February)?
Sorry to tag everyone - I was just wondering whether we know where the journal is now? I haven't heard anything for a while, but was wondering how far it will get down the chain - there is a deadline for it to come back to Canada, I believe.

I don't know what to do next.
oh, that just sucks, doesn't it?
i am also game with ann's @olivetreeann idea as time is of the essence now for this boy's project.
laerke @lily are you able to provide us with jerome's address in order for each of us to send our photo and greetings to him?
@lily
Let us know what you'd like Laerke what you'd like us to do. We really want to be a part of Jerome's project!

Great idea Ann! I so wanted to be part of his project! I am happy to send 'hard copies' if we can get an address.

Great. I will probably email as it will be quicker from South Africa.

Just as a report and - (if anyone needs it) - as a reminder :) My part is on the way:
@lily @vera365
I have emailed a PDF
It would be good to know if the family received all the emails. Is there any way we can check?
Thanks
