You're heading out for the day. The main focus isn't photography necessarily but you're going to probably take a few shots along the way. No real plan or idea what you're going to run into.
what are you taking?
I'm probably just going with my rebel T2i with the 55-250 kit lens and maybe a remote control.
It depends ;p. Right now my tg4 is in m purse going everywhere... but if there is a possibility if serious photography I'd prolly be packing the em5 w the f/2.8 14-49mm... unless I'd be hiking somewhere boring in flat light in which case I might just being the 40-150mm crap telephoto in hope of seeing some wild life...
If it's a work trip where I'm carting a lot of stuff, I used to take my little Nikon P300 P&S. These days, I just take my iPhone as it's good enough in most light - though I'm still not at the point where I think of it as a 'real' camera.
If I do want a small 'real' camera, my X100 is still my go-to.
My usual Nikon D7100 and the Sigma 18-200. I may pack in the 10-20 f/3.5 Sigma if I think I'll want very wide angle landscapes. I have a Sony RX-100iv, but I find I really don't go out with it much, small as it is, unless I think I'll be wanting to shoot video.
My Canon 60D and my 18-135. It's a good "walking around" lens for me as I like the zoom, and it allows me a wide range of subject matter. My tripod is always in the car if I need it.
for everyday random photography its just my iphone 6s
for specifically going out shooting i take my mkiii with my 35 1.4 sigma art and my 100 2.8 canon macro L. I also have a 50mm which i very rarely use. I am a prime girl through and through.
I also take a lens buddy (if im shooting childrens portraits) a spare battery, 2 spare cards SD and CF as well as a lens pen cleaner.
If it's very bright/sunny i might take my converted Nikon D90 and Nikon 10-24mm lens.
Otherwise the Nikon D750 and 50mm lens.
Spare batteries/card/ lenspen/notepad/pen and a large poly bag to lay on, if needed.
My camera bag contains my Sony a6000, one or two lenses depending on what I have in mind that day, spare battery, lens-cleaning brush, soft pouch to put my glasses in when I use the viewfinder, National Trust card, entry card to Winchester Cathedral, credit card, some cash, notebook in case I find a strangers' portrait, tissues, and a lipstick.
Everything has its place and the camera bag is far more useful than any handbag!
My 5D III with a suitable lens& hood - rarely carry more than one these days because of the weight; spare card & battery; small purse with some cash & 1 card; contact cards, notebook, pen; travel pack of tissues, anti bac gel and in the summer one of those travel size sun creams; kindle for r&r time, phone, a bottle of water and a cereal bar. All is the smallest size top loader bag I can use for the lens I am taking, though if using more than one lens I take a messenger bag. Never a backpack - too vulnerable to thieves, too cumbersome and too hard to get stuff in and out of.
