Trying to decide between one of these two versions of this shot for a submission for a contest on sunsets….please help tell me which you like better & why…Thanks

The 2nd one. You get more of the colors of the sky, and I like the tree in the background. It also gives the house more of an abandoned feel, which makes the photo more interesting.
I'd say the second one as you can see what has made the fantastic silloette and it also makes the run down building seem so small and powerless to the incredible power and presence of the sky - both are fantastic photos though!
@iheartgreenland@5unflow3r@geertje@gavincci@mastermek@emmaroobers@juliehill@cpersha Thanks all for your help & opinions....for those that didn't like the closeness to the roofline in #1 here is one from farther away...I only wasn't fond of this one due to the blur in the weeds, they were blowing in the wind. Not that this trumps the full barn just another option.

I like number 1 but I would crop it more and remove the sky above the roof. If you did that - your graphic silhouetted shapes will be stronger plus your sunset colouring will pop. It will also make your pic unusual and therefore more interesting....well, that's my opinion ;)
I am joining in voting for number 2... it is a powerful picture, giving a ominous feeling of abondment...
If you wanted to focus more on the colours of the sunset though I would think of cropping number 1 even more so you had the red of the sky and the silhouette of the weeds and the railings with a panoramic crop...
Hope we have helped :)
I like number one if you cropped some of the roof, i love the detail of the 'weeds' through the barn and against the sunset. I think that feature is lost in number two.
Number 2 for sure. It gives more definition to the entire image captured. there's much more character to the image and feels complete as well. It could be number 1 if, just like @frameit explained, if it were cropped tighter.
I do like the details of the flower silhouettes in 1 and cropping it would definitely help, but I must join the throng and vote for 2. I love the sky and its varied hues, and the sad, lonely silhouette of the structure in contrast with the sky. For me, it's just a slightly more powerful image.

Hard to know what you're looking at in images 1 & 3
