I've always really liked @jannaellen 's Toy Story photos (I've posted one below, although I couldn't find my favourite where Rex has the camera), and I just found @looseimage 's figurine photo (also below), and Danbo's always photogenic.
This is something I'd like to have a go at, but just don't know what sort of figurine(s) to get, and after I get one/some I know I'll be stumped for ideas on what to do with them(!) I've got a couple of Lego builders...but haven't really managed any decent shots with them...so if you'd like (and wouldn't mind) please post your mini figurine photos here to give me some inspiration!
I've searched for more (because I know they're out there), but the image search isn't working...but I did find a discussion with this fantastic link - Little People
Sorry @lolanae I had formatting issues so your photo was posted to the deleted thread...please could you repost it?! I promise not to mess this one up!
@lluniau - type in lazyhawaiian in the search field and you should find The Adventures of Lazy Smurf and the Hawaiian lady, they have currently left Australia and are heading to Europe to meet up with new 365ers and have their image taken.
I shot these two photos of them, when they visited me back in October. Click on the photos, to see more of their story.
@moirab Extremely cute, and great idea. And the textures of the mushrooms are lovely. I'm hoping to buy something that can be applied to multiple situations though, if you know what I mean?
@msk1p2 That's hilarious. And reminds me that I've not been to the gym this year yet (dammit). I've never seen those before - they look very versatile!. I may have to visit "thinkgeek" to see what else they have!
@lluniau - there is a facebook section on the 365 facebook page which has a list of where they have been and where they are going too. They did a crazy cross country tour of Australia, and are heading to The Netherlands I believe. https://www.facebook.com/groups/threesixfiveproject/
@jasehoad Ah, see that's what I mean. If I had a whatevertypeoflegomanthatis I wouldn't even think of making him eat cake. But that's what makes it so good! It's even *more* surreal! I need to learn to think outside some boxes...
Gotta love Star Wars Lego Droids ... these guys made a monthly appearance in my first full year ... I'm yet to decide who will be my model for this year ...
I've been taking quite a few recently.
Some lego ones from back in August
Then on 30th December Woody went missing. Suspicion fell on the new guy in the room:
The search went on for days without any clue as to where Woody was:
Hope was begining to dwindle amongst the toys and some began to fear the worst. Until on 4th January McQueen found Woody and carried him home. No answers were given by Woody but the older toys had their suspicions of where Woody had been and provided him with asprin.
Today another little toy series has started with Rex looking particualrly worried about something
@lluniau Thanks for this post, Ellen! I also love figurine pics and am in sort of the same boat as you. What with just starting my second year for 365 I'm going to put it on my new list of things to try!
@neontree The car one was with my 50 mm f/1.4 and the other two were my 60 mm f/2.8 ... I alternate between those two lenses for most of my photos and sometimes get on a macro love affair mission ... or when I temporarily broke the focus on my 50 mm and everything became a macro lens photo ;)
Not plastic, but certainly figurines! I crocheted them myself. I am having the same trouble. I think picking a background is half the trouble! Hopefully i can soon post a more successful shot, but for now, they are still cute!
Noticing the similarities between Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter :-) I recommend saving wrapping from other toys. That's what this background is, and the one with the horse and squirrel
Hemione is wearing a TP dress
I think that this one, the restaging of the scene where Hewhomustnotbenamed is drinking the blood of a unicorn to stay alive, is my favorite. :-)
Have you checked out Jeff (@bullethead321) He use these Halo figurines in every photo and has had some very fun andcreative shots! He even takes them to restaurants and poses them...
@lluniau : I was so busy I didn't even see this thread until now. You're so sweet :). I try to make my figurines interact with each other or their surroundings as those are the shots I love to see most. Can't wait to see some lego shots of yours. Here is the Rex shot you were talking about (I think):
Also, @kammy had a great series with a fierce Lego lady, here's one of hers:

Many of the little toys we've gotten I've found on the mark down isle at the toy store or places like Target/Walmart.

@grecican @httpgeffed @koshi @jasehoad @tinatmmc @moirab @carajill Great photos! Are you all using a macro lens?
Do look at the work of Livia @myautofocuslife. She does beautiful work with dolls, figurines and other small stuff.

Just some story I was working on....
A scene from The Godfather.

you can view them all with 'mr.leo' tag http://365project.org/tags/mr.leo
and these ones were taken on top of my t.v. with a wall as a background... tehe.
