Anyone remember the awesome Album Cover Challenge? Originally posted by @marinda ? @janmaki 's album cover shot today reminded me that it would be a fun challenge to revisit. Here are the deets:
1. Go to wikipedia and hit 'random article' on the left. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2. Go to quotationspage.com and hit 'random quotes' on the left. The last 4-6 words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your album.
3. Now go take a photo that fits with your album!
4. Use photoshop or similar (picnik.com is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.
5. Share your image (or images, you can do as many as you like) with us by tagging it with 'albumcoverchallenge2'!
Okay, at first I was all WTF, because my band name is Alcithoe tigrina (for the curious, that is apparently a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Volutidae). But, the end of my quote is "...to lose everything else". Loss is sort of familiar to me lately. I'm gonna rock this challenge. :D
This is not a screen shot... I actually took a photo of my computer and then ended up having to edit out (most of) those horrible lines that happen when you take a photo of a TV or computer screen! :)
This will be interesting. My name is 'Osuchów-Kolonia, Żyrardów County' and my album title is "When you strike at a King, you must kill him" - quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson 1803 - 1882.
@heidievans73 I love yours...especially the little tag you added. I did another one that I think I can handle. If I try it, it will definitely be outside my comfort zone though! ;)
@heidievans73 Yours seems like it is already a band name! Great job! @tryeveryday Now you know we are curious about that first one. You definitely have cover because it was totally random...
@miley89 Upload more waaaay back in your calendar, like 2009 or something, just put the date/challenge in the description. As long as the exif is in there for the ones that need it, it should be fine!
This is really fun, Paula. I got Moscow Radio for my band and Perpetual Neglect for my album title. I should be able to work with that. I could just take a photo of my house lately.
@hamptanner Well, the first one (F***land) should have went to someone like Quin @grecican...she would have totally rocked it!! :) However, it was wasted on me.
I got "Music for an awful lot of winds and percussion" from Wikipedia -- at random! That's a P.D.Q. Bach album :-D I have an idea, I just have to go to the place to take the picture.
Great project. I had my students do it for my Photoshop Fun Day and the result were so cool and they loved doing it. I would share them here, but I have the free account. Thanks for the idea.
I was up in the middle of the night to handle a small crisis, so decided to stay up and work on an album cover. Finished this one and had this sensation I had cheated, because I took the photo from the February slush pile. We post one photo a day, but there are 1780 photos in my February bin. I look at this one now and realize it didn't make the cut, because I'd rather post street photos. But in retrospect, I'm kind of diggin' this photo. Taken of a sculpture at the American Art Smithsonian, outside an exhibit of Annie Liebowitz photographs. Guess Lady Liberty wanted her fifteen minutes of fame here.
Loved, loved, loved this :)
May have to have another go! (The husband was very dubious when I told him to undo his jeans lol but I got a flipping odd quote!)
Anita Peabody's breakout country album hit the charts like a runaway train. Her smooth ballad "Sleep on Things Beforehand" has already hit the top 10 and shows no signs of slowing down.
Critics rave over the tight harmonies and the vocalizing on the upbeat track ironically named "Tired."
Following their debut album, Manganate comes back with Large Values of 2, an album packed with emotion, including their latest hit "Birds on a Wire" and the mesmerizing song, "I'll Fall for You Every Time."
@swguevin Shiela, It's what I did with my Manganate Album cover. I think that shot was #3 or 4 on my list for that date in August last year. I'm going through my trash can to pull up some other shots that just didn't quite make the cut the first time around.
Review - Clean Hands of Vojvodina's latest album is the first concept album to come out from any group in nearly 5 years. With the advent of iTunes, concept albums have all but disappeared from the market place. Young listeners are too interested in purchasing just their favorite songs as opposed to entire albums. We hope this trend will change and we think that Clean Hands of Vojvodina have hit a strong chord with this one.
Don't let the alternative label on this scare off any of you baby boomers. This album rocks right from the start with "Beyond the Moon" and moving through the epic cover of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." This album has all the makings of a smash throughout, finishing up with their #1 hit "Look into my Eyes."
Random quote from Art Spander: "The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid." Haha. So the title of the album is Do Something Stupid and I had great fun making this one. With some help from Mr Bottle. 8D
wikipedia random article: Jarvis Cove (love it as a band name!) and for the random quote, I forget the entire quote, but the last 5 words were "be counted at any cost"
Steller's Jay, the 2010 Grammy award winning punk rock band of the year, comes through with another gritty album, full of promise and high octane energy.
The title track is mesmerizing, but is just a lead in for the second track, "Hurtful Love." Keep listening, because you won't want to stop. Eventually, you won't be able to, because by the time you get to "Love sucks" it's all just pure ear heroin.
@ptowncook@crickle1969 Hey guys, just noticed you tagged these for Round 2 - we're actually on Round 3 now, which @sdspace is hosting - make sure to change your tags:)

I remember when this concept went viral on FB a while back. I like the variation of taking your own picture for it.
So band name is actually the name of an ALBUM.
Reggae Greats will be singing Don't Need to be Done. Time to start thinking for tomorrow's photo.... :)
A CRAZY Picnik Cover

Amok Time is the name of a star trek episode, lol.
@pwallis You're so awesome for bringing this up again! But you already knew that.
@marinda You've well, got it all, genius and beauty....nuff said.
My band name is Violator (comics) and my album is a quote from Sharon Olds, "... the more I feel almost beautiful."
Could be an interesting cover.... How long do I have? @pwallis
So doing another one
@shadesofgrey [blush] did i miss something??? O.o
Thank you :)
These entries are just fab. Love them all!
Btw - Your editing is awesome, I wish I could do that!
I want to do like a hundred more of these!
@tryeveryday Now you know we are curious about that first one. You definitely have cover because it was totally random...

This is super addicting!

Give this one a five star rating.
My original pic are my headphones straddling my montior while itunes visual effects play in the background. Apparently Francois ROCKS!

Band Name: Şorsu is a village in Azerbaijan.
Album title source:
The word 'meaningful' when used today is nearly always meaningless.
Paul Johnson
My first try!
