Many thanks to Elaine for hosting the last City Challenge - London - and for choosing my images as finalists. I'm thrilled to have won against such great competition!
This fun challenge was started by Brigitte @brigitte and Nicole @nicolecampbell and is a great way for us to experience some of the greatest cities of the world through the images of our 365 community.
After a bit of deliberation I have decided to choose New York for the next challenge as I know it's a city that many have visited and photographed.
The theme will run from today November 3rd and run for a week to November 10th. Old images are fine and feel free to post as many photos as you like and use the tag City-NewYork.
After choosing the finalists (the bit I struggle with most when hosting a challenge) I will leave the vote open for a few days. The winner will get the opportunity to host the next city challenge.
I look forward to seeing your images of this famous, exciting and vibrant city. Feel free to share them in this thread (optional) so others can enjoy them too and it would be great if you could include a link to this page in your write up incase others would like to take part ;)
@amandal@taffy I've tried looking through some of the older City Challenge threads and to be honest I'm not 100% sure if you can tag old shots already uploaded in the past. I only tagged an old one of mine because it wouldn't count and to get the ball rolling so I think it's best to ask the people who set up the challenge!
Brigitte @brigitte or Nicole @nicolecampbell would you mind clarifying please? Many thanks.
@paulaw@taffy@sarahsthreads ....and, anybody else who is wondering (but, I will leave that to Paula to clarify!) My photo of the Bay Bridge that won the city challenge for San Francisco was an older one that I just tagged for the challenge (at the time I did not even know that this was a real challenge with a winner at the end!), and obviously it counted. My understanding is that you can either tag older photos of that city that are already in your album, or you could upload new ones, either recently taken, or from your own archives.
Great choice Paula, unfortunately for me I haven't been to New York for many years and wasn't into photography then but I am sure there will be some amazing shots.
@stephenfox Apologies, couldn't quite work out how to also add text to my photograph above , so I have added it here.
Every Picture tells a story a this one did.
It was taken in October 2010 we had gone to New York for my wife's 50th Birthday. We had a fantastic time and this photo was taken on our first day there. I had only recently bought my first DSLR camera which I still Love and have. Not knowing much about the camera, I used the tilting display screen which it has to allow me to place my camera really low to the ground. It is one of my most favourite pictures. This is a photo of it which I had put on Canvas and it proudly hangs in my home. I've tried hard to find where I saved the original, but have never found it. I colour popped this to highlight the famous Yellow Cabs.

I thought I would share a couple of shots I took last December when I was in NYC for my daughter's one woman show.
Taken in Dec 02 on a trip to New York. View of Statue of Liberty from Ellis Island.
Another shot from our Dec 02 trip. John Lennon memorial in Central Park
