A big thanks to everyone for participating in this challenge, it's really good to see how everyone would process/edit the same image. A special thanks to Stacy (@SPace) for having a great idea and starting this, and of course thanks to everyone that took the time to vote.
This is this the second "what would you do?" apologies that it's a little late.
Entry to this competition starts on Wednesday (26th January) and will close Sunday night (23:59 GMT 30th Jan). 5 finalists will be chosen next week and we'll vote on the winner then.
Please do whatever you like with the photo, we want to see everyone's creative post-processing!
This shot was taken at Chesil Beach on the Isle of Portland, UK (my hometown)
There is only one file a jpeg SOOC: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19551600/ancient%20mariners%20original.jpg (just right click the link and "save source as".
I will choose the top 5 once this is over, and then put it to a vote. The winner will get to choose the next photo and do the judging!! Happy editing!
*Please tag your submission as WWYD2. It should be somwhere in your 365 album, even if you post back on the 2008 calendar. Otherwise, it's going to be difficult to view them all together.
multiple entries are fine!
Peter
ps. I'm gonna sit this one out and enjoy the show but this was my take on the original which I posted last june:
Some people are tagging their photos with the # in the tag, when they do that , it will not be grouped with these photos. Just thought I'd let you know ...
So I do have a flicker account I just don't know how to figure out how to upload something on there to here. I did my version & I think it's pretty cool any way. So different from the others for sure. I don't know how to post on these things. Do I just tag some how?
Here's my other take on it. This contest is so cool and it is helping a complete noob like me learn how to do post processing. This is fun and educational - awesome!
It's really interesting to see how other people would process/edit your originals, so insightful. It would be really great if everyone had this opportunity but I don't know how it could be achieved.
@georgia81
After you are done uploading on FlickR,you go to the photo, and in the left top corner of it,there are two boxes, "actions" and "share".
You click on "share",and from there you click on "grab the HTML/BBCode", and you`ll get a long link, wich you simply copy, and paste it here.
I also use FlickR for this, since I don`t have a second album here, and I want my project to contain only photos taken by me.
@dmortega Thanks Dorrena, but I like to use my calendar as much as possible using my own photo. I have one already in my calendar which is the cube. Thank so much for your kind words.
I am at a loss. I found where it said Grab the html/BB code but I don't know what to do next. I'm not much of a computer person. I just mostly know how to upload photos & surf the sites. So be patient with me as I learn this. I was able to click on the link I posted & look at the picture. Other than that I am confused. lol
Here's my take - whenever I see Peter's pics, he reminds me of when I spent a week in nearby Weymouth working and I always want to go back to the area. Its as pretty as a postcard there - hence my attempt at creating one.
@shutterbug0810 Thanks Loni ;) :D Sadly we're not at the voting stage yet and I have a feeling my place in the final five is far from a certainty :P :(
@wmvjohnson if you are talking about putting it here in this thread you first need to add it to your album and copy and paste (use the share box on the right hand side of your screen toward the bottom). The date you add doesn't have to be from today it could be for any day. If you are talking about getting the original JPEG onto your computer copy and paste the link Peter gave into your browser bar and when the photo is on your screen right click and save. Hope that helps- can't wait to see what you come up with :D
This is my second go - I was at a loss for something to do and felt like playing with it some more. @alecio - WOW! I love your black and white version.
@petervanallen I was just wondering if it would be alright with you if I printed 2 of my entries from this challenge- the two with my children. I would only print a copy for myself of course, if not I totally understand.
This is a great photo, Peter! It took me while to edit, cause I couldn't figure out how to improve it. I still think the SOOC version is the best.
This was my attempt at doing something like this

I've been playing around with GIMP for the last few days, so here is my contribution.
Heres mine, am new to this whole editing thing so just giving it a shot :)

I like the look though.
Hope you enjoy the changes.
Seems this is now officially a shooping tournament!
Here's mine :):
I really liked the original and just injected a bit of Australian sunshine, blue skies and trpoical waters ;)

Had to post it elsewhere, processing isn't my forte but thought I'd have a go, simple stuff!!
here is my second attempt : )

I'm still very new at this. So this is my first go at this. Hope you all enjoy =D
