Corny title, but true. This meticulously restored 1800 house is for sale, but apparently there aren't many interested buyers. I was the only person who attended the open house today. I told the realtor that I couldn't afford to buy it but would love to look. The owner graciously took me on a tour. And offered me a piece of king cake.
I've been reading about the Kleinpeter house for years. The restoration contractor spoke to one of my LSU classes. It is wonderful and should certainly be preserved, but it takes a special sort of person to live in a museum-like house.
@margonaut That is what the realtor thinks. Maybe the city or state could preserve it. I've been laying off king cake because I live with a health nut, but this was really good!
I love that house. Knew instantly there was something Louisiana about it. I grew up in New Orleans, and went to grad school at LSU. :)
I’m going to have fun catching up with NOLA through your photo archive here. Looking forward to the journey. I really miss New Orleans. Grew up and went to high school in Algiers.
