Long Shadows by eudora

Long Shadows

Including my own, in the lower right corner. While I was scanning the photo, I was listening to a debate on gun control. I couldn't help but note that sign, which I tried unsuccessfully to work around, which forbids firearms in the cemetery.

Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary, Louisiana

Shot with Pentax K1000, Pentax 28mm lens, Fujifilm 200
Great shot. I won't get into the debate but why would anyone bring a firearm into the cemetery

@bkbinthecity Thanks for your comment. I didn't want to start a political discussion, either, but that is exactly what I was wondering!

I think gun control is at so many people's hearts either for or against. Living in Scotland, I see the benefits that we have from gun control. Most dont have that insight. We live in a troubled world, I feel for America right now, far to many deaths, its heart breaking. Beautiful photo.

Wouldn't expect to find a police plakate forbidding guns at a cemetere..

Love the sunlight in this shot, it adds mood to a sombre place.

It does seem to be an odd request- what if someone is from the military and is receiving a 21 gun salute at their burial? Nice shot though.

@olivetreeann I wondered that as well, since it is a military cemetery administered by the VA. The only 21-gun salute I've ever seen there was a fake one staged for a movie.

@eudora I was at a funeral many years ago now, where they had one. 7 soldiers and 3 rounds. Goosebumps and tears!
