Dragonfly toes

Obviously, there is more there than toes, but if one looks closely, there are the cutest little dragonfly toes.

I saw this dragonfly on the bamboo in the garden when I went to tell Martios that it wasn't necessary to bark at the cats in the orchard. He wasn't convinced and did it anyway. I went back in, got my camera, climbed into the garden and tried to be stealthy as I made my way toward the dragonfly. You might guess, that stealth mode is not my forté. Bulls...china closets...yup, that's me. Dragonfly flew away. I was sad. He came back! I was happy! So I began to take photos. Every time I got a bit too close, he flew away, but he always came back. Maybe he'd paid for parking? I don't know, but I sure am glad.
ha ha ha! I never knew dragonfly toes could be cute! and dragonfly parking - well that's a new one on me too! Amazing colour tho!

Have to admit to being glad I'm not Martios's neighbour - our neighbours dog barks far too much - especially seeing as it's owner complained about the noise of my roosters...to the point I had to get rid of them...sniff!

@cottiac Thank you very much! Thankfully, we have no neighbors. Nevertheless, I am diligent in trying to train the three of them in proper manners. Martios is still a pup and the most stubborn of the bunch. My solution was to chase the cats out of the orchard since I hate listening to them fight as much as I hate listening to Martios bark. How sad that your roosters had to go.

@evalieutionspics Understandable if still a pup - actually a couple of my chickens actually chase away the neighbours cats!

Yes, it was sad - but he isn't a very nice neighbour on a number of fronts..

You do make me laugh. I can picture it so well. I think I am the same, except without the fantastic resulting picture.

what a great shot. love your narrative, but a sure fav even with out the laughs that gave me.

Read an article on snapping dragon flies only last week and apparently some of them do have a habit of returning to a perch & the author suggested the technique of spotting it, sneaking into place and then snapping when they return. Looks like you have it nailed.

I love the though that they are getting the best value for the parking. Made me smile.

Patience paid off with this smashing great shot. I love the color of this one. I think that dragonflies are just plain and simple good luck to see and when they come back it is every so special. Fav!

@darlenet Thank you all! The narrative was crazier than it sounds. The garden is a hip high raised bed, so when I say I climbed in... Add to the story, the fact that at the time, I had been in the pool doing laps, so was wearing goggles and a bikini and the picture is so laughable, it's no wonder the poor dragonfly flew away! It was frightened out of its wits!
