Windy Memories

This is a miniature windmill that my grandad made for my grandma when they were newly married in 1932. They had celebrated 75 years of marriage before my grandad died, and my grandma reminded me while I was visiting her last week that they would have celebrated their 85th anniversary if Grandad were still alive.

I am not sure how my Aunt Pete got it, but she had it at her orchard, and I was blessed to receive it when she passed away. Now it lives on our "farm" in West Virginia. I love all the people and history of our family that it reminds me of.
Hello again - great to see you back. 75 years of marriage is just incredible. How remarkable. Difficult to get a sense of scale from your photo, I was almost fooled into thinking it was full scale before looking more closely to see it wasnt the real thing. Super pov.

Wow how old is your grandma! She must be a good age. Awesome story.

@helenhall Thank you very much! It's nice to be back after my holiday. I like the peacefulness of no internet but miss the camaraderie of this group.

@dkbarnett Thank you very much! Grandma is almost 102. Granddad was 101 when he died. She was 16 and he 26 when they married. Grandma still lives by herself; we all do as much as we can to make sure that she can continue to do so.
