Hairstreaks on Antelope Horns Milkweed by gaylewood

Hairstreaks on Antelope Horns Milkweed

During my walk today I noticed dozens of juniper hairstreak butterflies on this plant and decided to take some photos. When I checked online I was surprised to learn this plant is Antelope Horns Milkweed . . . a species of milkweed native to the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. Common names for this plant include antelope horns, green-flowered milkweed, and spider antelope horns. Thanks to this project, I learn something new every day.
And I am learning new things from reading your captions! Interesting picture.

What a sight. The assorted directions of the butterfly wings mirrored by the angular arrangement of the leaves.
