We have been in Clitheroe today, a lovely little town in the Ribble Valley. There is a very good sausage shop in the high street selling all sorts of different flavours of sausage. My youngest son likes to go here when home on holiday as he fancies making his own sausages.
We once did a taste test & the ones we liked best were wild boar sausages !!
This lady had been to my favourite shop in Clitheroe & obviously been spending money !!
She looks very stylish! Nice bunting - are they having a party? My Great Auntie Alice lived in Clitheroe in one of those cottages with the steep steps up to the door. We went to see her once but she'd moved out as the council was 'improving' the houses (under some grant scheme in the days councils had money!). We stopped in a car park pondering what to do and an old man was pottering past so my mum asked him if he happened to know her. 'Oh yes - I know Alice but I haven't seen her for years.', he said. Then with a new light in his eyes he said, 'She could really dance, could Alice!' We tracked her down eventually - still game for anything at nearly 90! Must be the hills that give you stamina.
@judithg How lovely Judith but it wouldn't surprise me .. I would think most people know each other !! How nice to be known for how you could dance !!! An epitaph I would love !! They are a fit lot in those hills too! I'm not sure why the flags were up & didn't ask !
I bet she had fun, and the sausages sound fabulous. A weakness of mine. I like simmering sausages in a good spaghetti sauce with lots of onions and green peppers most of the day, and then pop a sausage in a good soft bun. Oh yes.
another street shot Pat, well done for getting your camera out in the street, i always find it difficult to do, even though i do it !!! I like the lone guy window shopping :)
Lovely candid shot of shoppers along that charming street in Clitheroe. Your talk of sausage has me more than a bit hungry right now. I tend to think of myself as not much of a meat eater ~ but I can't resist good sausage...and bacon...and corned beef...and an occasional steak on the grill...and... Ok, so I guess I'm not a full fledged vegetarian. :)
Cannot help but think of the old wireless programme with Jimmy Clitheroe the name of his side kick quite escapes me..was it Danny..Alfie..time is indeed...plays strange games
@tsingtao I m sorry to say I remember the Clitheroe Kid too but I can't remember what the other guy was called !! I remember he was only a little guy but funny on the radio !! Seems a long time ago !
I don't think I would like to eat Wild Boar sausages, the things that they eat around here are disgusting. Anything that is dead and rotten they seem to like. What sort of a shop is EQ, I am curious now.
