Electricity Pylons have been in the news this week. They have designed a much more visually pleasing pylon with much less steel work & it won't be nearly as obtrusive to the country side ! They are hoping these new pylons will be available in two years time .
I had the thought that the first day with blue sky I would go & lie underneath one of the pylons nearest our house & photo up the middle!! Here is the result !!! This is SOOC with just a slight border round it !!
The weather has been perfect today & I took lots of photos which will come in handy for a filler some time !!
Thank you all so much for all your recent comments. I appreciate them all !!!
@jmj I thought this morning when I was lying underneath this pylon if any one had seen me !!!! luckily it's in the middle of a field so no problems there !!
you killed this! I think it was a bit brave to lie underneath all that electricity. but it was totally worth it. I love the mess of lines and wires - very interesting and the blue is a great background for it all.
You're just buzzinng today Pat!!! Great geometric lines. I suspect that we won't get too nostalgic about the old pylons. I was amazed to see that they expect to need a lot more new ones as everything seems to go underground these days.
So this is what they look like from underneath, Pat!! What a beauty of lines and angles..love the blue sky! Is there anything that you and I won't do for a photo, Pat?? LOL
What an imposing structure Pat - glad to hear they are thinking of creating something less intrusive. Glad to hear the weather has picked up a bit for you.
fabulous Pat - what great lines and yes those blue skies adorned the entire UK for once I think! I'm scared of going near pylons as one of my friends got badly burned once....but I do quite liek their form. Will have to read up on the new ones, have obviously missed this in my travels!!
@karenann@sparkle I do think pylons are a bit creepy & I certainly wouldn't like to live very near one !! The newer models are much neater . We used to get what they called way leave payment for two pylons we had in our fields..money every year to ensure the men could come & check these pylons & do any work needed !! They always asked first though ! @murnane
Very cool shot of this total jumble of steel. They are something of a blight on the landscape (though necessary) ~ hopefully the new ones will be a bit more aesthetic in design.
We have these running through our other cattle station and when you ride under the power lines you can here the buzz coming from the electricity running through them.
