Our annual BBQ in our old home village this afternoon.
Originally it started out as an introduction to all the new comers to the area. In those days these new neighbours were very few & far between but now as barns have been converted & folk move about more it has become even more relevant for the new comers to be introduced to the neighbourhood.
I have been trying to work out how long it's been running & I estimate about 30 years.
Funny because we have now moved away but still go to lots of events & Cathy & family still live in the area we don't feel we have ever left.
Top, my meringues & along the bottom from left to right, Inglewhite village green with the market cross, The Green Man pub which now unfortunately is empty, Rick & Joyces where the BBQ is held.
Was not good weather again but there is a large open garage type place which is ideal & we could all fit in there.
Best viewed large if you have the inclination to see village properly.
Three good things:
1. Meeting old friends.
2. We recognised most people there!
3. News of Open gardens in a fortnight & a future village BBQ with dancing.
Pat, I fav'ed this. Not only because it's a wonderful collage (yummy meringues!), but it triggered in me a longing for small town living (despite living in a huge city!)
@mcmary Thanks so much Mary & it is a fabulous place to live, we were there a long time, Harry all his life & me 35 years. I do love city life occasionally though!!
a shame it wasn't bright scorching sunshine - but at least it went ahead - our have all been cancelled! glad that these things are still going strong in some places
@sparkle Off to Glasgow on the train tomorrow so new place to photo, taking Harrys camera. We are uni visiting!! I like your new photo style...the new relaxed Juliette!!
I think I will shift and come and live there! Then I can enjoy what you did because I will be a newbie! BBQ with dancing sounds right up my alley! Maybe I'll take over the poor Green Man!
Super collage Pat - So great to have these gatherings -it so much reminds me of living up home in Wales & has filled me with nostalgia !! By the way --gorgeously yummy looking meringues !! makes my mouth water !
A lovely way to spend the day visiting old haunts, love your collage , a shame about the weather, so sorry I have not made comments on your recent pics Pat some how I seem to have less time these days
@snowy I know the feeling Diana & if you post late I miss them & by the time I have got up the photo is too far down the list to find !!!!!
Am just about keeping up but have been here commenting all night as I haven't been in for a couple of nights so feel I have to catch up but time consuming, I enjoy it though!
