A flower shot I know but this is a rather special flower shot.
My first photo taken & developed in RAW.!!
I had a one to one lesson with Jack last night who very patiently explained & downloaded Lightroom up for me so I could edit my photos.
Perhaps viewed large to get all the better detail if you have the time!!!!!
He wrote all instructions down & I have followed all 29 steps with a couple of phone calls in the middle!
I have been at a funeral most of the day but had to try it for the first time before I forgot! A quick few shots with no inspiration but the result was what mattered rather than the content today!!
Three good things:
1. A very helpful & kind grandson.
2. I feel am progressing onwards!!
3. A lovely chat & delicious funeral tea.
@winemonologues Oh thanks fife for your encouragement....early days yet but I hope to progress!!!!
Haven't seen you on 365 lately unless I have missed you!!
Oh wow Pat!! It's 3D. Now you're putting me to shame. @jo13 and @jantan use RAW to get their amazing pics but I had written it off as 'too hard' - I need Jack!!
Fabulous Pat and loved the enlarge view! How lovely to have grandson as consultant too! Wonder what Connor will teach me in years to come.
And like your No 3 ..............it makes a difference to sad days!
Wow the colours are amazing, think that is what is so wonderful about shooting RAW. I have to say I only do it when I want to show off colour or it takes my computer forever to read the files.
It just shows one can create more beautiful photos than the actuality! Painting our own picture as it is! One day I shall get Lightroom but in the meantime picmonkey is my monkey!
Pat it's a lovely image, i always like flowers against brickwork...sort of urban meets nature. Good luck with RAW, you are ahead of me with that. RAW is good if you want to do lots of post processing ....it's known as the 'digital negative'. Don't dump the jpegs yet...If you get exposure and lighting right in the first place then jpeg is just fine. Some photographers are a bit 'whiffy' about none RAW shooters :) ....anyway good luck on your RAW journey :)
@judithg I'm in the RAW too hard club judith....Too time consuming and eats up your memory cards and disk space too. You also need clever image editors too and have to convert back to jpeg to publish here or on any photo sharing sites.
@happypat thanks Pat, Lightroom is out of my budget....You get a basic RAW editor with Canon Cameras...I'm not sure if my old version of PSE does the latest Canon RAWS :) ....I will do a bit of investigation
Wonderful shot , I have that type of yarrow in my garden as well. I gave up shouting raw. since lightroom or whatever is out of my reach, but try to stick to the everyday ordinary out of the kitchen editing and processing. But raw of jpeg is a matter of believe- that's what I gathered from the discussion in the internet. and as @phil_howcroft said it seems to be divided between the ray and nonraw shooters. But aren't we always behind in th latested fashion, now its back to analog for the 'bid dogs'
welcome to the wonderful world of RAW Pat! 29 steps? maybe I need to check out those instructions when I see you next...I'm sure I'm missing something!! You'll have to let me know what you think about lightroom too - I still haven't looked at the trial yet!!
@lucypics@happypat@phil_howcroft Actually the hard drive space would be an issue for me as I take so many photos and I'm hopeless at deleting the dross!
@sparkle@jgpittenger Jack was very thorough & every detail had to be put down, even to taking out the card & switching computer on...only for a numbskill like me!! I'm sure I will still take some photos ordinary jpeg but at the moment I will persevere.
Beautifully focussed little flowers and you have done brilliantly working with a RAW file. How clever! Look forward to seeing more of these wonderful shots.
Wonderful that Jack is so patient and thorough! It is a lovely shot. My daughter shoots in RAW but then keeps complaining about programs crashing and not being able to access her stuff...I will stick with my point and shoot and PicMonkey! And I will sit back and enjoy your photos!!!

I just might join you in that field!
