Rich pickings

The three hens belonging to our neighbours have found our Brambly Apple tree with all these fallen apples. They were having a good peck at all the rotten fruit.
We have used some of these apples...not all wasted!

Off to Whitechapel Village Hall tonight for a lovely buffet supper, free wine & a good old knees up with all the locals.

A very Happy New Year to all of you...have a healthy & prosperous new year!

Three good things:
1. Three lasagnes made for family coming tomorrow!
2. Harry is driving tonight!
3. With thanks for a great year!
Ha ha I like number 2! Lucky hens- they look very healthy. Have a great night!

@fueast Well we might be on pick up duty after midnight so one of us has to be fit to drive! Harry is not a drinker anyway so he is ok with that.

Happy New Year Pat! Thanks for the friendship this year. And I love watching hens that have 'made a discovery'! I'm surprised our eggs don't taste of apples.

"a good knees up"...haven't heard that saying for years. Was a favourite of my mother's who would be 100 on Sunday were she still with us. My hens are feasting on fallen persimmons. Have a happy new year and all the best for 2015.

They must be very content

The hens must have flown the coup? Or scrambled through the fences. No doubt apple flavoured eggs will result! You have a great social calendar in your little country area! I made a lasagne for the freezer too! I even had fresh basil from the glass house to put in it!

Oh, and have a great 2015 for your whole family!

It looks like 'Happy Hour" hope they don't get drunk. Many years ago when we lived in Lincolnshire, I spotted a blackbird sitting on the grass and he appeared to have no legs. When I looked closer he had been eating the fermented apples which had fallen from the tree and I think he was drunk. He sat there for quite some time looking rather cross eyed and eventually flew off. I bet his Mrs thought he had been to Happy Hour. I guess that is where 'legless' comes from.

Out all last night & have all the family coming later so time is of the essence this morning but thank you loads!
