I googled iPad neck pain this morning & a whole lot of info came up,which exactly fitted my symptoms.
Apparently if you use your iPad on your lap your neck is so bent forward the equivalent weight is equal to hanging a seven year old child around you neck!
All sorts of advice which I am going to follow as this photo is a good image of the pain in my neck, shoulders & head over the last few weeks but worsening in the last two.
After taking it easy last night & plying myself with Ibroprofen it is definitely better than it was.
Another day or two & then using the iPad sensibly should fix it.
All iPad users beware! So easy to sit on the sofa at night commenting whilst watching tv but sitting at a table with iPad on eye level is the way to go!
Three good things:
1. I have learnt some sense!
2. Egg mayonnaise sandwiches.
3. Another cinema review!
Saw Creed today with Rocky Stallone. A brilliant film & thoroughly recommended.
Great uplifting story line, feel good factor & Dot & I took every last punch but boy was there cheering at the end!
Four of us had the place to ourselves.
Don't let the boxing theme put any of you women off!
very colourful composition and I hope your neck improves. I have a similar problem with back pain. This is caused by to much overhang on my waistline, caused by over eating. (Wink)
I recognise those symptoms too but as i do a lot of reading I wonder why that doesn't cause the same pain?.
Your shot is a great impression of pain - did you empty your piggy bank for it?
Great shot - I feel your pain!! No wonder your neck aches with a 7 year old child hanging round your neck!! LOL!! Wow - I hope your rest and then using at the table ends your pain. A new compliant caused by the new high tech age!! Take care!!
@bluefirebucket Well spotted! I have emptied a drawer with about two years of copper coins all ready to take to the coin counter in Booths but the machine had broken....I made use of the piles of coins!
Your neck pain sounds very similar to what I had caused by my old camera when I bought my new.. and much heavier one I got an over shoulder strap and it has been great.. no more pain. As soon as I saw this photo I thought it was your s .. and thouhht 'poor Pats still got her neck pain.
Thank you both, I think we all have a few aches & pains as we age but self inflicted ones are no good! I too read a kindle but that doesn't seem to affect my neck. I think because the kindle is lighter, smaller & I hold it higher up or usually read it in bed lying down.
Actually I thought this was a pile of coins and in the middle they were gold coins! John looks at his iPad for absolutely hours each day - no neck pain. I would actually go to the Doctor if I were you. Love egg mayonnaise sandwiches of course!
Yep, this is what a pain in the neck looks like. Hope it is feeling much better soon.
Mick has an interesting point. I wonder if it could be a combination of reading and ipad use.
@onewing I'm pretty sure it's not the reading bit Babs as I am usually lying back on a pillow or have the kindle higher up. So much better tonight so I am on the right track! I knew in my mind that it was the looking down as I could feel the pull of my neck at the end of the evening. You know how long it takes to comment on lots of posts....I do tend to right a s much as I can too, with one finger I might add! Some nights I am on & off my iPad all night!
@happypat Good to know you are on the mend. I am so thankful that I learned to touch type when I was at school back when Noah was a lad and never lost it.
Apparently bad necks caused by leaning over ipads or whatever are now a recognised problem. I can totally identify with you, when I spend a lot of time commenting have the same problem. I have just refollowed you again. Is is the second time you have gone from my list!
I feel your pain!!!! although to be fair I always support my head with my pillow when I use my ipad.
This is a great abstract image .... hope you feel better soon :)
@phil_howcroft I hadn't until I googled......I was delighted to read what my problem was & how to cure it! Sensible posture when typing & posting!! It would not have happened on my main computer.
