Such lovely barges on the Lancaster Canal yesterday.
We walked past them on the tow path & peaked into each one, fascinating to see tiny galley kitchens & cosy bedrooms, I was quite envious but know I would be so short of space after a while. Two loving together would be so claustrophobic I would imagine, you might end up killing each other!
Not so much housework though & you could upsticks & drift down the canal when you felt like a change of scene!
No definitly not for me!
Three good things:
1. Space!
2. Casserole in the oven.
3. Blackberry jelly.
A lovely shot Pat - love the bright colours of the canal boats ,and beautiful reflections and the pretty little moor hens in the water . I would like to sample a week holiday on a canal boat but then it would be high time to get back home to relax after the claustrophobic experience !! No 3 sounds mouth-wateringly delicious -- I just love blackberries !
yes I have a few friends with boats, one said winter is awful because you get cabin fever..have been taken out for the day in one a few times and slept once in one overnight, but could not live on one, but sure suits some people.mmm blackberry jelly delicious
p.s Pat, I know they are barges, but people who live on them, well at least the ones I know go mad when you call them that. So I am careful now and always call them boats . was once rebuked, in a friendly manner of course. but I have not forgotton ! ha ha
@brennieb Funny that as when I was writing this I put boat & then changed it to barge, must remember that. Would be fun to sleep in one with a bit of gentle rocking! I would go mad In one though as suggested above would be quite good fun if you were young & carefree!
Your auto correct on the comment "loving together' actually makes sense! I think you would have to stand aside to let anyone pass in these small cabins Probably stand on the bed or a couch! Love the reflections as well as the good photo of it! fav
Beautiful shot of the narrow boat with reflections too. I love the rivers and narrow boats and we have spent time on them. We have friends who lived on them and it's just a different mind set . I do love the tranquility of the rivers and marinas.
@maggiemae b. Ha ha I never noticed that Maggie, I might have known it would be you to see that error! I wouldn't feel like much loving cooped up in there for long!
gorgeous shot and reflections. Looks like quite a romantic life, but in reality it would drive me mad if I had to live too close to David every day. We both like our own space occasionally.
A neat shot - we have recently bought a camper van, with probably as much room as these houseboats. We've had the odd weekend away - so far, so good, both still here and enjoying it!
