I was watching this very smart lady enjoying her lunch.
Sitting in the sun with a BLT sandwich & a book to read.
I was always ticked off when I was a child...mum used to say..'no reading at the table Patricia!'
No one minds these days!
Yes I always had my nose in a book then!
Three good things:
1. Tomato & basil soup.
2. All the maize safely gathered in.
3. I bought some winter flowering pansies for a tub to go on mum & dads grave for the winter.
All is safely gathered in.
Now i'm humming it...when we were small qe used go church for the Harvest festival...it was sung with such gusto..no churches are sadly lacking in congregation
@brennieb I loved harvest festival, we still have it round here but not just the same somehow as the churches aren't decorated so beautifully these days!
Looks very dreamy.. She looks like a lady I know but as I saw a photo of her walking down our beach yesterday I guess its not her.. love coriander o anything..
Humming the harvest hymn now too........I used to hate that as well. No reading at the table. I sneaked it under the table more often than not!! Nowadays, I read a chapter of a book aloud to the family while we are still at the table after dinner. Currently reading through the Darling Buds of May series together. We used to only do in the holidays when away but now we do it most nights. Jackanory in our house! Can't beat a good book shared.
@julzmaioro Well I expect she would like to be in NZ herself! I m not a herb person, would love to know how to use more herbs & spices. I know the basic ones like ginger etc but that's all.
@casablanca oh dear you get these tunes going through your head & it's hard to get rid! I do like a God old bit of hymn singing myself! I think even mum would let me read at the table now....not half as bad as mobile phones in my book! I live your custom of reading at the table out loud...I have never heard of that before except at school lunches at the convent. We used to have someone read to us then while we were eating. Funny I had forgotten about that!
Ooh dear how things have changed - I was certainly not allowed to read by the meal table ! Lovely 3 things , I am so tired but the hymn is going round in my head now - ( just had 40 winks !)
She has chosen a chair in the sun! I would bring a book if I was by myself too! Or a crossword etc. A definite no no - reading at the table while young! I can't imagine it!
It must be a good book. I always take a book with me when I have medical appointments or something similar. I usually feel quite old fashioned because everyone around me are usually on their mobile phones.
@happypat Haha I did think I had not heard of tomato and Corriander ... love basil as well... we got given some plants at a garden circle visit to a indoor herb place so I have 3 pots growing on my window .. its great to had to salads and pasta's..
Nice capture of people getting on with lunch! Talking of reading at the table, I was recently at a restaurant where I watched a middle-aged couple come in, sit down and open their kindles. They practically never spoke to each other. I found it very bizarre. Didn't dare take a photo though! ;-)
