Feeding frenzy... by happypat

Feeding frenzy...

Our new bird feeder has been swamped all day by a gang of starlings!
So many birds in our garden now...it’s a show in itself watching them!
Photo not too clear as it’s taken through the window & enlarged. We have seen as many as ten birds at once on here.

Three good things:
1. We have found the little bird book.
2. Our new slow cooker has arrived!
3. Great news to hear they are starting giving out the covid vaccine here next week. Thankful for all the scientists & volunteers who enabled this break through miracle.
A super capture

I’m very envious, we don’t get starlings and I think they’re beautiful birds and very comical. This is a great capture. I look forward to seeing more photos of birds in your new garden 😊.

@carolmw @susiemc Thank you both. Birds are lucky at the moment as they are taking advantage of all the dead brambles in the middle beds & round the edge if the garden...won’t be quite as bird friendly next year perhaps!

They are having quite a tea-party aren't they ! So lovely to see the birds coming and going in the garden a lovely pastime watching them Pat.

Starlings have the most beautiful blue colours when you get in close.
Lovely that you are getting to see so many birds!

Bep
I love watching starlings in the garden, but not in summer when they arrive in big numbers to plunder our cherry trees ;-)

The word gang applies to starlings! Chase off other birds, fight amongst themselves, noisy and like to build their nests in the roof if they can force themselves in!

Your caption matches the "feeding frenzy" scene so well! That feeder -- no wonder the starlings are happily all over it! What did you fill it with?

You will have fun watching this feeder! Maybe the starlings will move along and some different birds will visit the banquet table.

Oh you are going to have fun watching the birds in your garden.

Fascinating bird feeder.

I have also become a convert to bird watching. Be ready though, starlings will eat you out of house and home.

@allie912 I think you could be right Alison....we regret there are so many of them!

@louannwarren Hopefully Lou Ann but I very much doubt it! Others do come when these move on & we do have lots of hanging feeders too.

They look as if they are at a feast

They seem happy to be together!

Beautiful scene to watch and shoot.

If I had that it'd be inundated with pigeons and crows. We rarely see starlings, strangely enough. They're definitely preferable to crows!

They’re ignoring social distancing criteria. Can't blame them. Opportunity knocks for Starlings.

Magpie's rule in our garden. They seem to prefer to feed at floor level. The Blue Tits keep inspecting the nesting box I think they house hunting!!

@jamibann Oh yes, no crows here yet thank goodness!
Thankfully the starlings seem to be all full up after their morning feed & rarely come in the late afternoon...the little birds get first pickings then.
@thistle01 @jgpittenger @taffy @sangwann

@s4sayer Ha ha yes no social distancing there!
