I am cheating somewhat today - a photo of a photo. Bu it is our wedding anniversary and time needs to be directed elsewhere -
It was on an outwardly gloomy wet day much like this one, that I started out in a partnership of marriage 30 years ago today. We learned our vows by heart and have since learned to strengthen each other through career changes, relocations, bringing up two sons (who thrive, at times despite us), redundancy, house moves, the challenges of each others families, loss of loved ones, health issues and the many fears, hopes, disappointments, successes, distractions, and pleasures that life delivers in abundance. It is an on-going journey. .. we are forever learning and forgiving and through this, continue loving .
I was shocked to discover how poor in quality our wedding photos now look - and not at all sure why orange marks have appeared. Anyone with advice on how to touch this up? I have boosted the colour, and used selective colour to lessen the saturation in the red areas - which has helped, but I have no idea how I should really tackle this.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful couple, this is so fun :) and your genuine happiness is infectious. I wish you many more fantastic years together! As for your question, I'm afraid I wouldn't quite know what to do aside from playing with saturation, etc. but I think it's beautiful as is. Older photos never look pristine but it gives them a certain charm!
Congratulations to you both for reaching the 30 year anniversary mark! Lovely photo of you both! With regard to improving the colour you can play around a bit in Photoshop or Lightroom and see if you can improve it. Many old colour photos change or fade over the years and of course nowadays many post processing effects try to copy the ageing effect!
Congratulations Helen, what a lovely photos. All my old photos have faded too. You have done a great job on bringing this one back. I would probably just adjust the colour on curves in Photoshop to increase the contrast a bit and then draw a lasso tool around hubby's head and with a 60 px feather reduce the saturation slightly to take some of the red out of his face.

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to do that for me - and for so many other people. So much appreciated. happy anniversary albeit belated, helen. you look radiant and really glowing with love on your wedding day. your words touch the heart in special way. i suppose you have to have that conviction, aside from true love, to get to 30 years. my best wishes to you and your husband. as to the photo, i see no problem with it on the surface, at least this one that's posted. you did a good job removing the imperfections and besides, the happiness exuding from your smiles makes me see only the beauty of this day (despite the evidence of rain in the glass!).
