This was taken in the build up to last weekend's river festival. Amidst the chaos and turmoil, there seemed to be a heightened attentiveness from the river birds to the activities around them. It really did seem as if this heron was keeping an eye on the situation.
I was reminded that I took this one as we took a gentle walk out this evening with my father-in-law. There was a heron on the banks, but the light was fading, and not good for photography.
We have taken three plays in over the weekend at our little town's Fringe Festival. One on Maggie Thatcher, one on Colonial India, and one on the book of Job. Two of them were monologues in which the actor and the actress managed to paint so many vibrant pictures with the spoken word. It is good to know that our ears can receive pictures as well as our eyes .. especially as I have some minor eye surgery coming up this week!
