Thought I would have some fun with buttons today - until I remembered that the box of buttons that had been Mums, I gave away to a friend who wanted them for her craft work which raises money for charity.
I recently also sent a huge bag of wool to a lady I met at an event a couple of weeks ago. She teaches refugee/asylum seekers to knit and told me how grateful she always was for donations. That was Mum's too - she did a lot of work with her fingers before the arthritis set in.
So I have been thinking about Mum. This time last year was when Mum really started to deteriorate. I remember well that she was hallucinating and thought people were out to poison her. The Halloween décor in the nursing home was distasteful in the extreme, highly insensitive for a nursing home and increased her sense of fear. So this time of year is bringing back memories and sadness.
Funny how little things can trigger off a chain of emotions.
A sad time for you.I have a box of sentimental buttons too. An old uncle who is no longer here made the wooden box. It's a lovely picture and the fact that it ended up being sentimental makes it even more special. X
I am sorry that the process brought back such painful memories for you. I am glad that you did it anyway. I wondered when I saw it if we were perhaps mind melded? I love the simplicity of your image and the soft colors.
Wonderful composition and warm tones in this special shot, Helen. As Dianne commented, hopefully your chain of emotions will include good memories along with the sad.
