Interior of Holy Trinity Church, Goodramgate, York

258 - I included a shot of the exterior of this church just over a week ago - http://365project.org/if1/365/2012-11-10, so here to complement that is a shot of part of the interior.

The building is constructed of limestone, and here we are looking through one of the arches, where the pulpit is visible. In the foreground are the box pews, the only ones to survive in a York church. To the left is one of the candle holders. The church will soon be holding a candlelit carol service.

The church is no longer used for regular services, but is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, a charity dedicated to maintaining some of the finest old disused churches in England.

Nice shot of the interior of this church. It is great that these older buildings are kept intact for the current and future generations.

@bruni

Thank you Bruni. The box pews were once a common feature in UK churches. The boxes could be paid for, so the wealthy would pay for a box close to the front, while those with less money would find themselves somewhere well back.
