These gifts and I sat on the front porch waiting for Anna and Bill to pull into the driveway. Rather than spending the afternoon with us on Christmas day, they visited today for about half an hour — me on the top porch step, them on the bottom, masks on us all. God blessed us with beautiful weather in which to stand six feet apart, and the three of us enjoyed a lovely conversation in the pretty sunshine.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Anna and Bill arrived in town to make their way around, somewhat Santa-like, delivering gifts one porch at a time to family members they couldn’t hug. I was the last stop before their 2-1/2 hour drive back home. Covid, coronavirus, the pandemic — it doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s changed the way we do all kinds of things, yet we can still do kind things as Anna and Bill so clearly demonstrated. Their spirit of giving inspires, and I love them with my whole heart. ♥
A lovely photo and narrative - so glad to hear that you and your family also had good weather for your mini celebration. We were blessed with almost 60 degrees and sunshine yesterday for our outside gathering in TN. Doesn't really matter where or when or for how long - just getting to be together is a Christmas blessing.
Wonderful composition and lighting! How lovely that you were able to spend some quality time together, so many will not even have that luxury! I heard a new expression today. " No body loves a holiday like Covid" Stay safe and my we all be able to share hugs with our loved ones this time next year!
What a lovely narrative and shot. Do wish more people could look at our current situation the way you do - would certainly get it moving out faster. There are ways to do things - maybe not the same - but that doesn't make them wrong. As they use to beat it into our heads teaching, learn to "moniter and adjust!" Hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
In these times, it is as if we have time and sensitivity to notice kind acts so much more. It as if they have space to breathe and we are more able to truly appreciate them. What a lovely act by your friends. How different Christmas is this year. I hope yours will be a good one, despite absent friends and family. I like your capture of the gift unwrapped - and the home made goodies by it's side. I feel the anticipation of looking inside that bag.
Lovely shot. Covid sure has made this year different. When I took presents to my one daughter we stood outside her house six feet apart with our masks on for a short visit.
