Big snowflakes fell softly, and I gazed. “With all those windows, it’s like you live in a fishbowl,” my Mom used to say. She wasn’t a fan, and I’d laugh. This morning, I would have told her it felt more like living in a snow globe; but I’m not complaining one bit. I love all the glorious glass. With my hands curled around a hot cup of coffee and Gracie curled up on my lap, this snowy morning suited me just fine. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Gracie and I eventually stood, and that’s when I saw the bright light falling on my flowers — that special, cool, wintry light that demands attention. It mingled with the warm lights in the kitchen. I opened the door for Gracie and heard a woodpecker’s rat-a-tat-tat. They’ve been pairing up and announcing their territories lately. Gracie poked around in the fresh snow as I listened. The birds know spring’s not far off.
I have a load of laundry in. It’s good to be at home.
How lovely - I wish we had snow and not ice - looks like everyone in Middle TN will have a week of challenges ahead, unless they have the luxury of staying in (I can't even get the patio door open to toss out peanuts for my wildlife) As long as we all have heat and electricity, it should be fine. As you stated, it's almost Spring!
each petal of that flower is so crisp and detailed. It is a stunning display. And the bokeh above tells me of the quality of light that you created in your home. I love that picture of being in a snow globe - snug and warm and awaiting spring.
You have described a feeling of warm fuzzies all while sharing a cold winter weather scene. Nice composition of this wonderful flower. I like how you caught the tiny hairs on the bud in the background.
