Thank you, Lord, for Purple Finches now joining our regular feeder visitors.
I once read that ornithologist Roger Tory Peterson described a Purple Finch as looking like "a sparrow dipped in raspberry juice." That perfect description helps me easily distinguish the Purple Finches from the more common House Finches. Glancing at the feeder and finding that pretty pinkish-purple hue delights us every time, especially in Spring when they return from their wintering grounds. I loved seeing the Purple Finch and the Goldfinch on the feeder together as purple and gold have a special place in my heart — they’re our school colors!
