Bent over along Beech Tree Trail scanning the leaf litter to see what interesting woodland wonder he could find, Mike found Jack-in-the-Pulpit! This vibrant berry cluster appears in fall. We'll be watching in spring to see what actually caused this beautiful woodland perennial to be given such an unusual name: a cylindrical, hooded spathe (the pulpit) housing a hidden spadix of tiny flowers (Jack). Excitement abounds!
I praise you, Lord, for our trails and the many wonderful moments of discovery they provide.
