At this time of year, we never know where we'll find hickory nuts, beech nuts, walnuts, acorns — squirrels store them everywhere in preparation for winter! I found these two hickory nuts tucked neatly in the back beneath the bush in one of the planters on the front porch. I left them. They'll make me smile again and again; and maybe I'll be lucky enough to someday see a winter-weary, hungry squirrel find and enjoy this tasty meal.
All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
I praise you, Lord, for giving squirrels the forethought to store nuts for winter consumption — miraculous!
