A few weeks ago, paczki entered our lives for the first time; and this week, we got introduced to sumo citrus. A front-and-center display at the grocery store announced, "Easy to peel! Seedless! Super Sweet and Juicy!" I picked one up and immediately thought it a bit past its prime with its loose skin and somewhat spongy feel; but I popped a few in a bag to bring home and try. After thoroughly enjoying the unique, fun peeling process, we took a taste and couldn't wait to go back for more! I googled sumos (named for the "top knot" shown here) and learned that, like paczki, they're seasonal. This seems to be the year for discovering delicious new seasonal goodies!
I praise you, Lord, for sumo citrus and the California farmers dedicated to growing them.
