Forsythia by janetb

Forsythia

Truth be told, I don't like Forsythia. Mike teases me about it every spring. Its harsh, spiky branches; off-yellow color; and initial lack of any green are not for me; but yesterday? Yesterday, I nearly sprung out of the car at Blue Spruce Park when I saw these Forsythia shrubs glowing in the bright sunshine. My love of backlight and blue paired with yellow kept me standing in potentially tick-infested leaf litter for longer than wise — but the joy of the scene! Even with the Forsythia, I loved it.

I praise you, Lord, for this bright sunny scene, which might change my mind about Forsythia. A little.
I really like your composition, with the bare tree in the gap.

what delight in that sky. I agree about the forsythia. We have some in our garden. I keep looking at it and wondering how on earth I might get an attractive shot out of it. The spiky branches and lack of foliage seem so harsh. The forsythia here in your composition does a great job of framing that elegant tree and is considerably lightened by the beautiful backlighting.
