Avon

Walls scrubbed down, windows washed, floor wiped up, and all the rest — with the master bathroom now done, only one room remains of the 23 I set out to spring clean at the beginning of the month! This room houses many meaningful treasures, but these two framed prints stood out to me today.

I remember clearly the joy of The Avon Calendar of Roses 1983 featuring reproductions of Pierre Joseph Redoute's famous rose paintings. When the year ended, I cut out these lovely prints and had them framed as remembrances not only of the beautiful daily calendar but, also, of my years as an "Avon lady."

When the Avon lady who delivered to the company where I worked as a secretary quit, I took on the additional job as a favor to the fellow Avon lovers in the office. I didn't know at the time that what began as a small gesture to help out would become pure joy! Raised by an Avon-loving Mom who placed an order every time she received an Avon book, I was quite familiar with the wonderful products; but attending meetings, distributing books, taking orders, record-keeping, packing and delivering orders, and sampling products proved to be a much-loved experience. When I moved on to another company, my Avon lady years ended; but the wonderful memories remain even now!

I praise you, Lord, for these remembrances of my Avon lady years.
You are really on the ball with the spring cleaning. That is wonderful. This is such a pretty shot and the artwork is lovely.

Another treasured memory so enjoyably told and how lovely to have the constant reminder in this room. I too have framed photos from a calendar before now and enjoyed them for many years hence. I am now wondering what on earth you will do with your new freedom once you have completed the 23 rooms.

I was an Avon lady too! I sold Avon in the 90's in hopes of earning some extra income. I earned a little but I think the biggest benefit was getting my own products for less. But I was familiar with Avon long before I sold it- my mother loved it too. My Mrs. Albee figurines are up in the attic somewhere- the decor of my bedroom changed when we moved here. I still use some of the tableware I bought when I sold Avon on a regular basis. It was a good company to work for. But I don't they were doing the calendars when I sold it. These prints are lovely!

Beautiful memories! Definitely an Avon fan, too. Started when I moved to Arkansas in 1967 - Bill's grandmother was an Avon Lady and she would occasionally take my 4 year old daughter with her for a treat. Still ordering Avon from our retired high school secretary - whose husband is helping her out while she's taking cancer treatments. I can't imagine how good you must feel to know - really know - that your house is thoroughly clean. May never have the feeling again with my almost 4 year old great-grandson who thinks I'm his personal playmate :)
