Snow Horse by jgpittenger

Snow Horse

I've been playing around with SILVER EFEX and wanted to share two edits. Any opinions? I'm off to take drop off my photos that were accepted in my first ever juried show. You've seen them- Yaquina Head lighthouse at sunset and Bridge in the Fog. I'm also taking smoke colors the dawn in the mountains to the "Salon de Refuse". I have all of you to thank for your support and advice that has gotten me to this point. Thanks so much
This is like a holiday card Jane, it's so beautiful!

Beautiful b&w

This is beautiful. I love the detail on this one much better. I'm gonna have to look into Efex for b&w editing. I've seen some really nice edits done with it. Good work.

I think I like this one the best. It seems to be a little softer on the eye. The other one is a little to bright to my eyes.

Good luck with the show. I entered a few juried shows last year. I had a lady that wanted to buy one of my pictures but her husband said no. It was in B & W and he didn't like B & W shots. They didn't get her name and phone number for me other wise I could have showed her the colored print. I have not entered any this year. I just haven't had anytime to put things together.

Like this edit. Really brings out the textures and the character of the horse. Good luck with the comp! Hope you win.

Yes this is definitely the stronger detailing in this image and more contrast. Can really see his expression here. Good luck with comp.

I'm not savvy to EFEX but I do love this image. I like the texture of the horse coat, composition, and tonal range.

Excellent. I agree with the comments above, this is my preferred image. Thanks for stimulating me to thing about this technique. I need to do some research, and will try Silver Efex.

I prefer this one. Compare the snow on the foreground fence rail, and this one has more detail. The other one appears a little overexposed, even if it isn't because the detail has disappeared. The photo itself is really nice, and I hope you try other approaches as well.

I've not tried this software. It seemed quite expensive last time I checked but this is beautiful so I may be tempted to reconsider!
