That's My Girl

She’s saying thanks for all the kind words. I think we’ve decided to have the owner of the pit bull cited with all the requirements he will have to make rather than just given a warning. I’m still pretty shaken and will be carrying my bear spray on hikes from now on. I can sure see how pit bulls aren’t allowed in some of your more thoughtful countries.
Awww...Sweet shot

What a heart rendering capture Jane, she still looks traumatised! I know for a fact in Germany he might even have his dog taken away! Go for him :-)

Aww poor thing, I hope things settle down and you get the help that’s needed

I just want to hug her. I think you've made a good decision.

Oh look at her sweet face!! It makes me so angry that the owner let his vicious dog off lead. Just think it could have been children on that path and what a tragic end there might have been. Definitely do all you can to stop this man and his dog. Fav for your gorgeous girl!!

@pamknowler I couldn’t agree more with what you have said.

She looks gorgeous

Pleased she has no after effects

She is a beauty :)

Oh bless her , she looks to l so timid . pit bulls are on the dangerous dogs list in UK , you can only have one with a licence. I do believe though it is the owner that is to blame a majority of the time not the dog . if I thought my dog had the slightest sign of aggression towards other dogs he would wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead .
Hope your fur baby is back to her normal self soon

Adorable shot.................hope she is doing well!

Good to hear your dogs are doing well , there is quite a heated debate here in NZ re pit bulls but find its not only this breed there is a problem with however its not the dogs but owners .

Such a beautiful face and expressive eyes
Hope you all recover fully soon
Agree with previous posters that the problem tends to rest with the owner of these breeds

Oh Pearl, you do look so sad, that look just melts my heart. She must be traumatised, you'll have a bit of work to do there with the poor love. So glad you've decided to go after the moron with the vicious dog, the whole thing makes my blood boil. Aggressive dog, off-lead and no muzzle = selfish no-brain owner. Have a fav, Pearl. How are you coping Jane?

Great shot. She posed for you very well. Glad you are having that nut-case cited. That dog will only get worse.

@ludwigsdiana @365karly1 @pamknowler @dide @ilovelenses @Dawn @4rky @golftragic @rickster549 thanks for all your kind words. Thankfully Pearl and Abby seem to be doing well. I totally agree that the main problem is with the owner but I think also somewhat with breeders some of whom select for aggressiveness. The bad news is that the senior animal control person has decided that the injury isn’t serious enough to do a citation ( read...it’s too much trouble or I don’t have the staff..) even though the punishment would be, other than a fine, requirement to keep dog on leash, take obedience training, have dog wear collar that identifies him as potentially dangerous...seems like pretty appropriate punishments to wake up an owner! So the dog has to seriously injure another dog before it’s identified as dangerous. Pearl and Abby were meekly walking along on their leashes not doing anything to wind him up...he just ran around the corner looking for a fight. I’m discouraged, frightened, and mad!

@jgpittenger How terrible Jane, I feel your anger too, it is a rather sorry state of affairs which is very disturbing. .

Pam
great shot!

I cannot understand the mentality of people who want to have an aggressive dog. When they get out of control the results are horrific, as you have experienced. The photograph of you dog is lovely, enhanced by being in black and white.

Good girl Pearl - I'm so glad to see you looking OK. And 'm pleased to hear that your Mum has bravely decided to do everything possible to stop this man from allowing his dog to do the same thing to someone else!!

It's frustrating to read that there is nothing the authorities will do that is proactive, given that the dog gets to live with his owner, continue to have its life, but get appropriate training for both -- a perfectly reasonable result of a citation. Very frustrating all the way around. We can only hope the owner was disturbed enough (even if he didn't show that to you) to be more careful. Next time it could end up costing the dog its life. Glad to see Pearl is physically fine -- her big, wide eyes suggest she's still a bit skittish!
