Since the weather isn't inspiring me to take my camera out and I've been watching photo training videos, I was inspired to give another look at some of the photos I took in the Grand Canyon when @taffy and @jyokota were there last Fall. This is a reedit with some dodging and burning to try to bring out the depth in the image.
Thanks for the visits, comments, suggestions, favs
What an amazing scene and wonderful detail right through into the distance. Your dodge/burn technique has certainly added to the impact of it too - the layers in the bottom right, below the diagonal are so well shown, as is the top horizontal dark layer in the distance. I was wondering if maybe the layers and gullies in the remaining central could be a little more defined? :)
@robz Iâm always pleased when I see a comment from you on my photo cause I know youâll have some good ideas. Are you talking about the little âpondâ and above it to the right?
OMG, that is absolutely fabulous Jane. I've seen a lot of GC shots over the years, but this is one of, if not the best to show the scale of the incredible landscape and its geology.
@jgpittenger Thanks Jane - I was actually thinking of the section more in the background - above where the main chasms cross and back towards the main range on the horizon. On my screen the section you have mentioned looks fine. I do sometimes wonder if we all see the same image or if our different screen settings mean we see slightly different versions? :)
Hi Jane - this looks wonderful - the definition of the layers just softens nicely from the front to the back and the final black layer tops it all perfectly. It's such a fabulous image showing all that majesty! :)
@jgpittenger Sorry Jane - I have never used that and have no idea. I had a quick look and couldn't find anything. Not to worry - I'm more than happy just to be able to see your public photos. :)
