Brown Pelican Flying in Smoky Foggy Sky by jgpittenger

Brown Pelican Flying in Smoky Foggy Sky

Boy is it ever hard to focus in the smoke and fog! But there were a couple of brown pelicans so I had to try. Poor Black Pearl never go a walk yesterday because the air quality was so bad. We took her out this morning with better air...but still pretty awful.

That picture sure does show how bleak and grey it is right now.

Every new disaster - and they come thick and fast - I say to Mrs S, ‘We’re in the biblical final days'... and, sadly, I truly believe that.

Glad you got out and saw the water. I can even make out some blue in the lovely waves.

Looks like you got the focus. Seems to be just really hazy. Couldn't imagine all of that smoke that your having.

This picture tells the story. All of us on the west coast have sky that looks like this in varying degrees. I'm inclined to post photos from last week when the sky was blue.

Stay safe! The air quality even all the way down here is still very, very poor. I don't dare go outside unless I have to. Beautiful, haunting capture

This makes me wonder how the smoke is affecting wildlife.

You have documented a moment in time... a sad time with all the smoke and wildfires. I often think of the wildlife suffering with all of this. Yet this pelican lifts his wings and flies. Hope your dog gets to enjoy the outdoors again very soon.

Can pretend it's fog instead of smoke

What a sad sight, with all that smoke. But you did so well with the focus.

Sad time but great shot.

This is simply heartbreaking. Who would have thought 2020 would turn so many of us into documentary photographers simply by documenting day to day life?
