Curious Western Red Legged Frog by jgpittenger

Curious Western Red Legged Frog

We've been hearing the frogs croaking at night so we took our evening walk down by Jim's pond to see who was there. I found this beautiful frog who we looked up and found to be a Western Red Legged frog. Apparently they only croak under water so we've been hearing some other frog (s). It was quite dark so this was shot at 12800 ISO. I did some noise reduction but even so I'm amazed that it is a usable photo!

What a great shot - so beautifully clear and then just fading away. His markings and shape look very similar to the 'Striped Marsh Frog" that we get here. They make an incredibly annoying "Tok, Tok" sound - repeated endlessly! :)

With the A9 you could have pushed the ISO even further and still have got a useable result... Good spot.
