Not all about colleges....

Arbury - generally regarded as the most deprived area of Cambridge but personally I don’t think that’s right. It’s certainly true that that there are plenty of people struggling to get by in Cambridge, exacerbated by the ridiculous house prices and rents caused partly by rapid expansion due to the success of the technology companies and partly due to overseas investors buying up properties. There’s a butcher just to the right of Poochie Parlour here that has just been nominated for a BBC food and drink award by the owner of the Fitzbillies cafes. I go in there in the summer and buy too much for the bbq but maybe I’ll try and go more often in my bid to support smaller shops.
Oh and huge thanks for the amazing response to ‘On Patrol’ - didn’t expect that!
Three good things:
1. Not much damage from the gale that blew all night.
2. Abandoned sleep and made good inroads into the jobs I had queuing up.
3. My sister’s birthday.
I think every city in the UK has a shopping arcade that looks exactly like this.
Sadly our fence survived again ... but one of the neighbour's fences didn't.

Good to show the ordinary alongside the showpieces of Cambridge. How cool to have the nominated butcher nearby. Since new year, I have so far stuck to making a weekly visit to the butcher before going to the supermarket. Not only is it supporting smaller shops, the meat is better AND the plastic is less.
