Actually a photo from yesterday but I did walk past again today and take another photo- this one in the rain had a bit more zing to it. This is the side of the entrance to Murray Edwards College (formerly New Hall). It’s still an all women’s college and is famous for is rounded architecture. I held a junior research fellowship there many years ago and was on the gardens committee. They were always pretty but the current head gardener is really very good and has quite a modern style that works well. Shame we can’t get in properly at the moment but the entrance has some excellent winter planting.
There’s a large medical practice next door and it made my morning seeing the arrival of streams of vaccine candidates with huge smiles all round.
In other news Nigel photographed one of the local foxes wandering by his office mid-morning. Next door think it’s living, appropriately, under their daughter’s den. As we don’t have hens anymore and we have discovered that they eat rats neither household is too worried by his/her presence but there will be no feeding them even for a photo op!
Weather: well it’s stopped raining...
Covid: neighbour’s brother out of hospital thank goodness though lots of recovering to do.
Good things: text conversation with next door and met another neighbour on my walk so we could shout a conversation on the way home. A little less isolation all round....
I hope you get to show us this garden again in the summer Judith. It’s surprising how just the slightest connection with other people make us happy! No don’t feed that fox....fox poo is horrid I believe!
Lovely to hear about the people being vaccinated and your neighbour's brother.
