A kind friend gifted us a subscription to Olive Magazine and after a few days of lethargy I was in the mood to make something. Unfortunately I didn’t read the instructions properly and put three eggs in the mixture instead of two plus one for glazing (to be fair I think it should have said it like that in the ingredients!) Anyhow in the absence of anything else we’ll get through these rather damp blueberry and lemon scones.
Weather: not inspiring for photography but fairly mild.
Covid: 10 million people vaccinated in the uk
Good things: I’m really enjoying 365 again to document these strange times when there often isn’t much to document and to see what friends are up to.
These look great and I like the reflection - just put plenty of butter on! I had a subscription to the BBC food mag for my birthday last March. I was really good at trying somethng new each month at first, but I've slipped a bit recently.
The winter and covid makes me crave for fresh baking too. I bake something every weekend. Most of the time together with one of the kids. And now I can't wait for the weekend!
Those look absolutely fabulous! They wear that additional egg well. Enjoy every glorious bite!
I bought yeast at the grocery store today to make bread tomorrow. Now I wish I'd bought scone ingredients.
These are so beautifully photographed, they look delicious! I used to love getting Olive magazine sometimes and Delicious was another one with good recipes. Maybe toast them and they won't taste so damp!
