Head wind - Tail wind? by judithg

Head wind - Tail wind?

It was Community Kitchen day and I don’t get home till 2pm, then a bit of much needed housework, a few loose ends of the ‘big job’ I’ve been doing for governors and a very welcome early evening walk despite the blustery weather. I’m trying to work out which way the wind was blowing when I took this - she was going at a fair clip if she was cycling into it.

Weather: storm brewing
Covid: more and more of our shoppers have been vaccinated
Good things: Caitlin Moran’s balanced but hilarious assessment of the royal crisis & the demise of Piers Morgan.
Very good thing: Rachel got a vaccination in Canada due to her PhD work with the elderly!
Nice shot, I like the addition aof the bicyclist for an intriguing story. Out of touch with world news and Cailtin Moran, but now need to do some research it would seem!

Great sense of movement

Nicely captured and a very typical Cambridge scene. By the way, I didn't have my friend in for a craft afternoon - just for a quick coffee! Thanks for pointing that out though, it did sound like I did so I've changed the wording.

She looks determined.

Looks like your cyclist is getting a good workout against the wind.
Great news regarding Rachel and the increasing number of your shoppers receiving vaccinations!
I've wondered if the Meghan/Harry interview was as big or bigger news than it's been in the US. Can't believe how polarizing opinion has been here...but then, everything seems to be polarizing these days.

@peggysirk it’s been huge. I didn’t watch it myself on the grounds that they want privacy ;0) but it’s been hard to ignore. Very much a young/old divide here. I just think it’s very sad - the country was delighted when she married him, approved of the increase in diversity and she was greeted by huge crowds. Sadly an element of the press is obsessed (one newspaper ran Diana stories on the front page everyday for years and years after she died) and once they started criticising and H&M started responding and not playing ball (not releasing a baby photo etc) it all escalated. I’d have told my offspring to run a mile from joining the royal family- extremely difficult if you’re not brought up in it (& also if you are!). I’m absolutely sure she found it a nightmare. On the other hand it seems to have been deliberately calculated to cause damage to the royal family who are, at the end of the day, their relatives. That all seems very sad indeed. Plus some of it (such as security) is very misleading- it’s the British taxpayer that wasn’t prepared to pay the huge costs for them ‘not working’ in the USA & they’d never have had extra for the baby. The Queen’s grandchildren in the U.K. don’t have any security let alone great grandchildren. Also it’s food bank day for me so complaining about having to manage on £35million from your mother is just tasteless.

@judithg I didn't watch it either. But it's been impossible not to be bombarded with news, opinion, and interview excepts. Thank you for giving me more insight. I suspected tabloid journalism really stoked the problems. I totally agree with your closing statement. If the pressure was too much bow out gracefully and make a new life with with your gifted millions.

Glad to see your take on the Megan and ROyal family saga. Nice panning

Love this shot - the action and determination of this young girl - whoosh!

As the picture loaded, I saw the nice crisp architecture, then boom...the blur of speed! Cool effect!

Always love your building and street shots. Amazing architecture!

Clever capture.

@bkp thanks! Lucky timing I confess!

The Markle Debacle. Regardless of any issues they may or may not have had, it was poor form to do that interview and contained myriad inaccuracies, particularly in regard to titles for Harry’s offspring. Cannot think what its purpose was or what it can possibly achieve. Reminded as I watched her that she is first and foremost an actress. ‘Nuff said, as the saying goes.

Super image of our current stormy conditions.

@peggysirk @casablanca I am no doubt very old fashioned but this concept of ‘my truth’ or ‘your truth’ seems to be a very dangerous phrase and shouldn’t be confused with actual genuine ‘truth’. I’d like to get back to ‘my memories, opinions, feelings’ unless talking about actual facts but I’m probably an old fogey these days!

@judithg Totally agree! Truth is truth. Bending it to suit or deliberately using phrases to "push buttons" is highly dangerous when people are taken so seriously. I'm not PC and I'm not a fan of being manipulated either. Probably that makes me an old fogey too, but I care not! "My memories, opinions, feelings etc" sounds perfect to me. Such things are always subjective but acknowledged to be so by expressing them that way.

I watched the Harry and Megan interview and am sitting on the fence with my opinion. Opinion seems to be extremely polarised.
March 11th, 2021
@kjarn I think the fence is a good location!
