Ancient and Modern by judithg

Ancient and Modern

These are pictures of St John's College from our photo walk today - just to prove I was paying some attention to the camera. On the left is New Court (completed in 1831) and on the right is the Cripps Building completed in 1967. Both quite beautiful in their own way I think when seen from this aspect. The Cripps Building was built on land that had accommodated the 1921 Bath Houses - a 'modern' addition in their day which prompted one Fellow of the College to ask, 'What do they want baths for? They are only here for eight weeks.'
You have a mine of opportunities Judith ! Lovely stonework !

Both are wonderful photos and make for a fantastic contrast in era architecture. I prefer style A ~ so much more detail and character.
