Grazing by judithg

Grazing

The cows at King's will disappear again for the winter pretty soon I should think. I took Monty to Granchester Measows for a walk and it was blowing a gale. I took a few shots of a kingfisher which is very exciting een if the pics are tiny and blurry. On the way back the path was blocked by a fallen tree that I managed to scramble over/through - it made for a rather nervous last leg of the walk.
Interesting breed. Looks like its clocked you out of the corner of its eye.

Glad you didn't have a branch fall on your head! I thought this was a ram at first. Like the composition

I never saw a cow like this before - very unusual looking! You still have so much green in your grass.

You wouldn't want to mess with those horns!

A really unusual setting, to see cattle so near the buildings.

Rather surreal.

At first I saw the building, then I saw the curls, then I thought it was a lawyer.

a nice 'grazing' shot Judith :) ..it's strange to see a cow in such surroundings :)

Hope you weren't too near with horns like that !!! I suppose this is common grazing land I would imagine ? Lovely photo !

Didn't realise there were cows at King's. The cows on the meadows near our house have already left for the winter.

Love this crop and nice to see they still have the cattle at King's. It doesn't look very white but I think it's the Park White - a very old breed. That's what they had most years my our son was there.

@happypat There was a stream (& an electric fence I cloned out) between us! This meadow belongs to King's - they also own Granchester Meadows & then some of the other Commons are owned by colleges too - they get everywhere! Mind you that's why they've survived - that & the plague puts underneath some of them!

@busylady I don't think they'll be there much longer - no shelter.

@mejbronant Ooh I've never heard of that breed but they are lovely white cows (this one is a bit mucky) so I'm sure you're right.

A beautiful close-up. Their fur is so wooly - I bet one could make a sweater out of it ;). Wow - a kingfisher, that is so cool!
On a side note: a friend of mine just told me that she's going to be in Oxford next winter and I'll definitely be visiting her and plan some time to go over to Cambridge, so I will be able to see you and Monty in a year - yay!

@jannaellen Hurrah! I'm tidying the spare room!

@judithg : That seems a bit early but I'm all excited, too :)! Your little camera has a special place on my desk and every morning, when I see it, I think of you - and of further toy story shots I could take with it ;)...

Great DOF. Love the detail in his fur. He looks so cute!

@jannaellen Well it's very untidy! I was out being blown away by howling winds on Granchester Meadows yesterday thinking about our summer walk!
