Nothing says "Rhode Island" like hot weiners. No, these are not hot dogs. In fact, we're convinced that they are made from all the stuff that is not fit to go into a hot dog. Still, you really can't visit the Ocean State without a few weiners "all the way". For this photo, I decided to visit Wein-o-Rama on Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston. The "Est. 1962" part of the sign kept drawing me towards a black and white treatment. I ran this through Redynamix to pull out some hidden detail, and then added a series of adjustments to produce the faded black and white effect. The background texture is a combination of canvas and grain filters, producing almost a newsprint quality. I thought long and hard about editing the power lines out of the photo, but in the end I decided they really added to the early 60's feel of the image.
