Pastoral

I didn't even know this little gem existed. I was on my way home from taking a different shot - that I was not overly happy with - and I spotted this little farm on Capron Road. It turns out there are about a half dozen nice shots in this same area, so I'll be revisiting it several times over the next few weeks. I'm also thinking this spot will be quite interesting in different seasons and with a different sky background. There's a lot of very interesting texture in this location.

I wanted to play around with gradient maps today, so post processing involved a series of adjustments to turn today's photo into a monochrome brown image. I did try several different hues, but I finally settled on brown since it seemed to work best with the setting. A photo pop filter in Topaz Adjust brought out some strong color tones, and that helped to add some real depth to the gradient. I heavily modified one of the default tan gradients, modifying both the high end and low end colors. Three separate hue adjustments were added and I pulled the saturation down quite a bit. Several levels adjustments were added, and a yellow photo filter was added with a low saturation value as the final layer.
