I spotted this little gem in Rehoboth along Rte 44 as I was heading to the lowest priced gas station I could find. ($3.87 per gallon, so I wouldn’t exactly call it the cheapest gas.) It looks like the house and the garage behind it have definitely seen better days. There are actually quite a few buildings on this stretch of Route 44 in both Seekonk and Rehoboth that are in various stages of decay. What makes this one somewhat unique is that there isn’t a For Sale sign in the yard. Of course, looking at the decay just around the front door, the sign might be worth more than the house.
I toyed around with a monochrome image in the post processing, but in the end I decided the color version told a much better story. This one started out with a simple pop filter in Topaz Adjust. That filter sharpens the details a bit, but it also adds a bit of saturation, making the colors pop. I used a hue and saturation adjustment to correct the color back down to its faded state while retaining the sharpened details. A levels adjustment applied some contrast, and a warming filter (81) added some character to the image. A final levels adjustment was used to fine tune the lighting.
Thanks, everyone. To be honest, I'm really not thrilled with this photo but I didn't have the opportunity last night to get out for a different shot. The photo doesn't show the level of decay I wanted, and the overall image is pretty drab. I appreciate all the comments, though!

Wow, are those windows open or just a total mess? Quite a find.
