Today is opening day for anglers across the state. 80,000 brook, brown, and rainbow trout were stocked in over 100 ponds across Rhode Island in anticipation of the 20,000 fishermen expected to descend on the state's trout waters. I went to Olney Pond in Lincoln Woods State park early this morning for today's photo. While there were some crowded spots along the shoreline, attendance was far lower than what we've seen in past years. The shot I selected was typical of the more secluded spots, although neither the boaters nor the wader appeared to be having much luck.
I opted to stick with the black and white theme again. The contrast between the shadows and the early morning sun glare seemed to work well as a monochrome, and the color image really didn't speak to me as much as the black and white. For processing, I added a highlights recovery filter in Topaz Adjust. A black and white gradient was added in color blend mode. I added a sepia photo filter, and then slightly adjusted the levels to compensate for the filter.
Thanks, everyone! I really enjoyed getting this shot. I'm glad you liked the B&W choice for processing. Thanks for stopping by, and your comments are most appreciated.
